Mohaymen faces seven in Nashua on Aqueduct's opening day

Owned by Shadwell Stable, Mohaymen was a game winner of his September 19 debut at Belmont, where he re-rallied late to win by a half-length after conceding the lead at the eighth pole. The 9-5 favorite in that six-furlong event, Mohaymen earned $45,000 for the victory. The Kiaran McLaughlin charge, a gray son of Tapit and the multiple Grade 2 winner Justwhistledixie, was made the 8-5 morning line favorite for the Nashua. Junior Alvarado has the return mount.
A trio of colts exiting the Champagne (G1) are in the Nashua field. Sapling winner Sunny Ridge was a surprise second in the that one-mile event, 4 1/2 lengths behind the winning Greenpointcrusader, but his early foot perhaps helped him negotiate the sloppy conditions better than others.
Sail Ahoy, a half to multiple Grade 1 stars Point of Entry and Pine Island, was a distant fourth in the Champagne in his first start since a one-mile maiden score September 12. The Phipps Stable homebred figures to show more on a fast track.
Magna Light weakened to seventh in the Champagne when unexpectedly outrun to the early lead. Disqualified from first to third in the Sanford (G3) and then a tiring second in the Hopeful (G1), a mile might be beyond his optimal distance.
River Dell exits a photo-finish maiden win in the slip for trainer Tom Albertrani, while Flexibility faces open company for the first following a debut victory against New York-breds for Chad Brown. Longer shots in the Nashua are Jay's Way, a last-out allowance winner at Delaware Park, and Monmouth Park debut winner Pilot House.
The Tempted, won two years ago by Saturday's Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) winner Stopchargingmaria, has attracted a field of six. Grade 3-placed Banree enters off a 3 1/4-length allowance score at Keeneland, while Welcoming and Big World step up from maiden wins in their respective third career starts.
The field is completed by Hi Holiday, who captured the $77,000 Sorority at Monmouth; Flora Dora, heroine of the $500,000 My Dear Girl division of the Florida Sires Stakes at Gulfstream; and Parx graduate Disco Rose.
