Monday Harness Preview for 2/3/2014
On the day after the Seattle Seahawks defense dismantled the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 48, harness racing enthusiasts will look to take the first steps toward overcoming post-football withdrawal by cashing several tickets at Dover Downs.
Midway through the Monday card at Dover, take a shot on Stars N Bars in a non-winners of four races lifetime event for pacing fillies and mares. Last week as an overlooked 30-1 shot in the same class, Stars N Bars set wicked early fractions of 27.2 and 55.3 through the first two fractions and still lasted for third in a good effort. Tonight she will likely be one-half the price, but Stars N Bars should be able to set comfortable fractions early and that should enable her to have plenty left for the last quarter mile of this affair.
Then four races later in a non-winners of $12,001 last six conditioned event for pacing fillies and mares, both Sha Delight and Your Beautiful look formidable. Sha Delight moves up in class despite being the beaten favorite in a non-winners of $9001 last six class in which she was used hard early and settled for second. Your Beautiful endured a long, first over journey and finished second in this class last week and merits respect again here.
Unfortunately Yonkers has cancelled racing for tonight.
