Oaklawn Park 11 | 7:07 pm ET G1 Arkansas Derby for 3yo going 1-1/8 mi

TAPITURE tasted defeat at the hands of Hoppertunity in the Grade 2 Rebel last month, but that rival ran back in the Santa Anita Derby thus leaving TAPITURE as the horse to beat in the Arkansas Derby. The son of Tapit gets a rider switch to Joel Rosario and is the horse to beat. The horse with the most talent; however, may be BAYERN, winner of his two starts by a combined 18 and one-quarter lengths. BAYERN had a little bruise on his hoof causing him to be scratched from the San Felipe last month, but has come back to work well and needs to be first to second to move on to the first Saturday in May. BAYERN is 2-1 on the morning line, but he could be bet early, often and wind up as the post-time favorite. The one thing this race does not lack is pace, which helps the chances of CONQUEST TITAN, who is coming off a fourth place finish in the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby in his last start. Two starts back he was second to Cairo Prince in the Grade 2 Holy Bull. CONQUEST TITAN picks up Calvin Borel so look for him late along the rail. COMMISSIONER is trying to follow in the footsteps of his stable mate Constitution and take a major prep race for the Kentucky Derby. COMMISSIONER picks up Mike Smith and is another that will be doing his best running late. It should be an interesting stretch drive to end the all-stakes pick-4.
