Outrageous Overlays In Overnights And Pick-3 Action

February 5th, 2015

More storms are forecast to sweep over the American—Canadian border on the first weekend of February, 2015, but as long as the trotters and pacers line up behind the starting gate, we’ll make our own forecasts and try to storm the pools with great priced horses across the board and included in exotics.

This week we offer our own designated feature races, overnights we feel show great promise for profits. On Friday, Feb. 6, we indulge in three races at the Meadows, which, individually, present our special brand of “outsider contenders.” The three races also make up a 50-cent Pick 3, so consider adding all of our suggestions to whatever ticket combo you concoct.

Then we go to Yonkers that night for a trot, and on Saturday we visit the Meadowlands. As well, we have suggested contenders in particular races we have chosen from tracks in action over the weekend—and our exclusive, popular horses-to-watch list (H2W).

As we present all year long, the H2W list offers live horses, many that will escape public support, for your win, place, show and exotic combinations.

The following horses are recommended in your Pick-3 combos. At odds you judge worthy, consider them as win or across-the-board wagers.

Race 3

Bad Glamour Girl may or may not have been affected by the “off” track in her Jan. 23 race but she still got a piece of the action, finishing fourth at 7-2. The two before that race she won and was just beaten by two at the wire while being a huge favorite and having unsavory trips.

Race 4

First-time starter Style N Soul presents an interesting proposition. Unraced at two, the sophomore starts his career after a qualifier on a “good” track where he finished third faster than most of these raced in a pari-mutuel event. The morning-line favorite is a major proven loser. At 3-1, Lil Miss Hot Pants is zero for 43 starts. She is erratic and comes from no greater class than this level, which she has perfected doing best finishing third. Style N Soul may not fool the public much but if she offers the morning line of 7-2 it needs attention.

Also in this race, Cool Vicious returns from a Meadows feature we presented last week, where she was a battling third at almost 8-1.

Race 5

If you want a gauge of how the public shys from outside post positions on top of a class factor, look at the most recent efforts of Americangirlfriend. Last week she steps up from a conditioned into a Not-Listed Preferred, gets post 8 and goes off at 80-1. That status was evaluated coming from a level one step above tonight’s conditions where she won from post 3 at 5-2. She came into that race after being a 69-1 shot in a Not-Listed Preferred. All she need do is race back to her win two back and this will be her night.

Dangerously placed, Richerthanrayno flew from the gate at 31-1 last week in a claiming race about equal to this conditioner. She was not embarrassed though she was hanged for two calls (she got fourth). The race before that she defied being 22-1 and got third with a late rush after saving ground.

Race 9

Being able to go deep in past-performance lines can deliver strong contenders that escape the common eye. In this conditioned trot, such a case arises with Orange Bigi. Her recent three performances have their merits from posts 8, 7 and 10, respectively, but we can toss them and evaluate her from the fourth back, on Dec. 14 of last year. That race took place at Yonkers where she was stepping up a few levels based on a extra-distance win in November. The step up event was also a 1 ¼-mile race. She made two moves in the mile and was only a head away from the winner at 12-1. She returns to that level in a 1-mile event with a start from the middle of the field, post 5.

Feb. 7, Meadowlands
Race 4

Capozzo may not be supported so well in this conditioner for a number of reasons that fans love to embrace—trainer, post, no recent wins, et al. But we love his Jan. 31 race, a sharp third, sent to post at 26-1. We toss out his effort two back, where interference caused him to brush too wide to gain ground, and the one before that, where he was in way over his head. Five back, he is a winner around this level. He is out kind of outsider and should be a price to boot.

H2W Legend

Review our choices and follow the wagering at the prescribed track. These are possible contenders we have judged from reviewing races. The horses’ names are listed beneath the name of the track after the date they will be racing. The race in which they are entered (R and race number) follows. If a + is in front of a horse’s name it means it is appearing on the list for the second (and last time) because it failed to win the first time it appeared. An “ae” signals the horse is entered on the also-eligible list. If a horse is listed twice, refer to the entries on the night of the race since a horse may enter in more than one race. Types of wagering on any of the H2W listed horses are based on your judgment. If you have any questions, email us at TwinSpires.
