Palm Beach $20,000 Puppy Stakes Preview

April 8th, 2015

Last years winner *Storm Control*

It’s that time of year again, where the best young talent at “The Beach” go paw to paw to see who the top rookie is at the track. Last year we met a greyhound named Storm Control, who went on to win this Tournament and then two more Stakes titles. Is one of these youngsters set to do the same this year? This is a wide open competition that has many greyhounds with a shot at taking home the top prize in the Final on Saturday, April 25th.

Here are the top puppies I’m following for the 2015 Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes at “The Beach.”

Favorites

Bally’s Arthur ~ B & B Racing

9 wins on the season, 29.31 secs best time

Simply the hottest sprinter going right now at the track. 5 wins in a row in March, including a 29.31 secs blazer on 3/10.  Arthur is the best lid flipper in this Tournament and hasn't been caught on the lead yet in his career. B & B Racing is on fire right now in Stakes races this season. This could be their next superstar out of their Kennel.

Omega Point ~ B & B Racing

~8 wins on the season, 29.24 secs best time

“Sensational” owner Steve Schlachter just retired last years Puppy Stakes Champion Storm Control this week, and Steve’s got another youngster ready to win more Stakes Titles for him. Omega Point ran the 4th fastest time of any greyhound on the Royal Palm Course two starts back and already has 8 wins in his young career. Superstar potential is through the roof with this racer.

Daily Prayer ~ Ryan Racing

~4 wins on the season, 29.46 secs best time

The huge puppy prospect is just working up the Grade Ladder and will get a chance to shine on the big stage in this Tournament. One of the lid flippers of any racer competing.

PJ CarvedInStone ~ Rader Racing

~6 wins on the season, 29.66 secs best time

Coming off a nice break before the Tournament. The top wins Kennel Rader racing is due for a Stakes Title, and it wouldn’t surprise me if this Grade A tested greyhound got it done this year.

Brandon Lafell ~ Rader Racing

~6 wins on the season, 29.80 secs best time

Owner Steve Sarras won a Puppy Stakes Title last year with Patriots namesake Rob Gronkowski. Could this new Patriot greyhound bring another title to the city of Boston?

JS Tow Mater ~ Koppe, Staats & Collins

6 wins on the season, 29.87 secs best time

Is one of the more experienced A Grader of this Tournament. Also possesses the best close.

Next Best

~JS Barking Brigs & JS Blaze Runner ~ Koppe, Staats & Collins

Owner Shannon Henry is no stranger to winning Stakes Titles and has a good chance with these two racers.

Longshots To Look Out For

~ Jayne’s Kennedy

~Amf Wild Burst

~NB’s Mighty Love

Predictions

The two best hounds in this Tournament I believe are Omega Point and Bally’s Arthur. Arthur looks to be the most in form right now so I’m going to pick him. Either way, I’m thinking another Stakes Title is coming back to B & B Racing.

Winner- Bally’s Arthur

As always, I asked people at Palm Beach & others in the Industry which greyhound they thought would be standing alone at the end of this Tournament:

Track Announcer “DogTrack” Mike Jameson

“Lets get to the point….Omega Point!

Track Announcer “FasTrak” Dale Simons

“My faves to win are Omega Point and Bally’s Arhur. Both puppies by Bella Infrared. I like Daily Prayer but she is unproven from the outside. My best longshot is NB’s Mighty Love, a B Grader with A Grade speed. For a super longshot, try Boc;s FunkyFunky or Atascocita Clo.

Randy Birch, International Host of BigJackPotBetting.com

I puppy love Bally’s Arthur with the rush to crush….So many great young pups now at “The Beach.”

Jeff Prince, Customer Service Manager at Palm Beach

At this point, I’ll guess Bally’s Arthur. This is one of the best overall fields I have seen. A will emerge from this. Expect some surprises as the rounds dwindle down. Remember Gronk didn’t even make the Finals of this event and looked what he turned into….Captain America!”

Track Announcer Ramon Cadavieco

“I’ll take Daily Prayer…..something we all need to do more of!”

GreyhoundNews.Co

We are going with Bally’s Arthur.”

Enjoy the Tournament everybody!
