Pick 3 of the Week: Churchill Downs Saturday June 7, 2025

June 6th, 2025

A fun three-race sequence in the middle of the Churchill Downs card on Saturday will comprise the Pick 3 of the Week.

Race 5 Wager

  • $1 Pick 3: 1,5,7 with 8,11 with 1,2,4,5 ($24)

Race 5 โ€“ Starter Allowance

Fillies and mares will go a one-turn mile on the dirt in the first leg. #7 Bolt on the Rocks (9-5) has shown improvement in a trio of races since joining trainer Chris Hartman and is the top pick in the affair. The four-year-old filly possesses good early speed, and I feel that she will handle the stretch out in distance under Bejarano. She will be the one to catch in the stretch.

#5 I Had That One Too (5-2) has hit the board in three of her four local assignments to date and might be the best closing type in the race, as well. Paul McGee trainee was a good second most recently and will have Brian Hernandez, Jr. in the irons. #1 Wits and Wagers (5-1) will go first off the claim for Sweezey in her second contest since December. The Union Rags five-year-old wouldnโ€™t be a huge surprise beneath Luan Machado.

Race 6 โ€“ Maiden Special Weight

An overflow field of 16 fillies and mares are entered for the 1 1/8-mile turf affair. #11 Fleetingly (7-5) was a clear second in a similar spot on the course on May 1 and looms large with a forward move from the outer post slot. Jaime Torres will guide the Justify four-year-old for Chad Brown.

#8 Halstyn Rose (4-1) has very good tactical speed in a field lacking pace and will get the jump on the top selection turning for home. The Richard Baltas trainee rates a chance with a forward move in her local debut beneath Bejarano.

Race 7 โ€“ Starter Allowance

The one-mile contest on the dirt for the boys attracted a well-matched field of seven in the closing piece. #5 Greers Ferry (8-1) has put in a pair of good runs since having blinkers removed two back by Santamaria, and the More Than Ready gelding makes sense to me at a fine price. He has earned strong Brisnet Late Pace numbers in two straight and will be hard to deny late beneath Bejarano.

#1 Laugh a Lot (5-1), #2 Redemption Time (3-1), and #4 First of His Name (7-2) will also make the ticket in the closing race.
