Pick 6 Preview: Santa Anita $87,195 Carryover, January 9, 2014

Race 3: RANULF just blitzed lesser two months ago at Hollywood Park and enters the first leg of the Pick-6 carryover as the horse to beat. There does appear; however, to be a lot of speed in the field and if ready to roll off the layoff, LIMITED RESPONSE could be the one along in time. The best race of his career was over this track in March. Tough start to the pick-6.
Race 4: Another tough race with a small field with four horses between 2-1 and 7-2 on the morning line. VEGAS STREET makes his first start since November and drops off a 12th place finish in a maiden special weight. RAMBLING HOUSE is likely to lead while CLEARDOFALLCHARGES goes first out for a solid barn and KEENELAND KITTEN cuts back in distance for his first start in California after four starts in Kentucky.
Race 5: EUROCLYDON and PRINCESS GENEVIEVE are hard to separate in this one mile maiden special weight race. Euroclydon just missed at this same level by a nose, but is the second choice over Princess Genevieve, the Jerry Hollendorfer-trainee that goes sprint-to-route for her second career start.
Race 6: It's a dubious drop, but JOVITA'S TUFFY should be able to handle his foes in this seven furlong sprint for $12,500 claimers that have never won two races. If it's not the favorite, it's anyone's race. NOME could be lone speed from the rail.
Race 7: Not exactly a thrilling Thursday feature with only five horses entered and a 4-5 favorite in MONASTIC, who looks like a solid single for those playing the pick-6 on a budget. The one caveat is that the favorite has not won in his last 10 starts. He does; however, have a pace advantage over his rivals and goes from a 10-pound apprentice to a Hall-of-Fame jockey, a move that worked for these same connections one week ago.
Race 8: In the finale, a maiden claimer for fillies and mares going five and one-half furlongs, focus on CIRCULAR LOGIC, SECRET MEMO, WINNINGINFASHION and AMINA PERFECT. UNIQUE SUANCES debuts for a trainer that can get them ready to roll first-out every once in awhile.
