Saturday carryovers: Singles for Parx’s $165,435 Pick 5, Los Alamitos’ $11,787 Pick 6

On a busy Saturday of racing, J. Keeler Johnson recommends horses to single in Parx Racing’s $165,435 Pick 5 mandatory payout and Los Alamitos’ $11,787 Pick 6 carryover.

Parx Racing: Race 11: $165,435 Pick 5 mandatory payout (3:30 p.m. ET)

Saturday’s stakes-packed card at Parx Racing includes the $1 million Pennsylvania Derby (G1) and $1 million Cotillion (G1), but the highlight from a betting perspective is the mandatory payout of a $165,435 carryover in the 50-cent “Philly Big 5” Pick 5.

Bettors seeking a single to build tickets around are advised to check out #5 Bracket Buster (9-5) in Race 11, the Parx Dirt Mile.

As a three-year-old last year, Bracket Buster won the Oklahoma Derby (G3) and finished second to Horse of the Year Sovereignty in the Travers (G1). He recently kicked off his 2026 campaign with a dominant performance in the 1 1/16-mile West Virginia Governor’s S. at Mountaineer, dueling for the lead before drawing away to win by 15 lengths.

Bracket Buster’s Mountaineer romp yielded a 107 Brisnet Speed rating. If he repeats that performance in the Parx Dirt Mile, he’ll be tough to defeat.

Los Alamitos Thoroughbred: Race 4: $11,787 Pick 6 carryover (5:37 p.m. ET)

The latest Los Alamitos Thoroughbred meet is underway, and Saturday’s card features an $11,787 carryover in the $2 Pick 6.

The feature event in the sequence is Race 8, the E.B. Johnston S. for California-breds racing one mile on dirt. #3 Man O Rose (1-1) has dominated the last two editions of this race, but he enters off a couple of subpar efforts and could be risky to single at a short price.

Instead, our best recommendation for a single can be found in Race 9, a $12,500 maiden claimer for California-breds dashing six furlongs on dirt. #11 Kiki Ride (3-1) has been competing well in non-state-restricted races, finishing second in three straight $20,000 maiden claimers sprinting at Santa Anita during this spring.

Kiki Ride is cutting back in distance off a fourth-place finish in a one-mile $16,000 maiden claimer. The Brisnet Speed ratings he’s earned sprinting stack up well against Saturday’s field and stamp Kiki Ride as a formidable win threat.
