Although she’s never raced at Calder before, Joint Return is the top pick to win the Calder Oaks. Having won three of her first five starts, Joint Return is cutting back from the 1-⅛ mile G2 GP Oaks in which she finished fifth. Dropping in class from the G2 race to this non-graded stakes race, she should be able to handle any opponent. Carmouche is up again, as he has guided her to two of her three career victories. Although she has been raced on both turf and dirt equally, and may not be the classiest filly in the field, Dream Come True represents value on the rail. Dream Come True has one win from one start at this distance on dirt. She does have the speed figures to grab a piece here, finishing second or third. Use in exotics.

Her Special Way, the morning line favorite at 5-2 has won her last two starts, both as the post-time favorite. Although she loses jock Zayas to Fierce Boots, this filly is progressing nicely, breaking her maiden two back, then winning in allowance company last time out. Time to see if she’s a stakes horse. Use in exotics.
Flutterby has been racing in stakes races since breaking her maiden last September at Calder. Panici is up for the fifth straight mount, and has guided her to both her career victories. She can get a piece.
