Race Preview: King Glorious Stakes - December 22, 2013

December 22nd, 2013

Hollywood Park King Glorious Stakes Sunday, December 22, 2013 Race 10, Post time 8:05 pm ET

The feature race on Sunday, closing day, at Hollywood Park is the 2nd running of the $200,000 King Glorious Stakes for those horses bred in California. AOTEAROA is the class of the field coming out of consecutive graded stake races. He was second in the Grade 3 Generous over the Hollywood Park turf in his last start and two back was seventh in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf. This seven furlong distance looks ideal for the son of Good Journey. MASS TRANSIT may have a good future for trainer Peter Miller and is looking for back-to-back wins after scoring in a maiden special weight race last month. He beat Pray Hard, who came back to win his next by five and one-quarter lengths and is also in the King Glorious. CALIFORNIA CHROME won the state-bred Graduation at Del Mar in July, but is coming off a pair of sixth place finishes, one in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity and the other in the Golden State Juvenile on conventional dirt at Santa Anita. California Chrome is familiar with the track having broke his maiden over the surface back in May. LIFE IS A JOY rates an long shot look for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, who can seemingly do no wrong. Life Is A Joy goes back to a sprint and he is two-for-two around one turn. Like Aotearoa, the distance should hit him right between the eyes.
