It's time to start the Kentucky Derby trail and there is no better trainer to follow than Todd Pletcher, who sends out the appropriately named, TRAIL BLAZE on Saturday in the six furlong Spectacular Bid. Trail Blaze broke his maiden in November at Aqueduct by a widening four and three-quarters. He earned a high speed figure, but it is not the top number in the field. That distinction belongs to GIANCARLO, whose connections are hoping the horse can hit one out of the park 19 miles north of where Miami Marlins Giancarlo Stanton takes pitchers yard on a daily basis. Giancarlo, the horse, is also entered in the Pasco Stakes on Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs. HOLLYWOOD TALENT is the class of the field having run in a pair of graded stakes over the summer at Saratoga. The son of Talent Search is coming off a win back in October at Parx and lures top jock Joel Rosario. CORFU is the "other" Pletcher while C. ZEE and ELUSIVE BLUEBOY are two horses that may go under the radar, but must be respected.
