Remington Park: Horse racing pick of the day for Dec. 18

December 18th, 2020

Weekday picks and plays for Thoroughbred racing.

Friday, Dec. 18

Remington Park, Race 13: Jeffrey A. Hawk Memorial S. (1 mile and 70 yards, midnight ET)

It will actually be Saturday morning on the East Coast when a dozen horses face off in a competitive renewal of the Jeffrey A. Hawk Memorial S. at Remington Park.

There are plenty of logical contenders to consider, but Iโ€™ll place my support behind #2 Hunka Burning Love (3-1 on the morning line).

A 6-year-old son of Into Mischief, Hunka Burning Love is undefeated in six starts running long on dirt since he was claimed in April by trainer Karl Broberg. Along the way, the speedy gelding has accumulated three stakes wins, including a victory over future Charles Town Classic (G2) winner Sleepy Eyes Todd in the Lone Star Mile.

Hunka Burning Love enters off a resounding, four-length triumph in the Delta Mile and has picked up hot jokey Ramon Vazquez for his return to Remington Park, where he dominated the Governorโ€™s Cup S. during the summer.

A win bet on Hunka Burning Love will be our primary play, but weโ€™ll also key him on top in an exacta.

$22 to win on #2 Hunka Burning Love
$2 exacta: 2 with 1,6,8,12 ($8)
Total: $30

Good luck!
