Rosecroft Honors Top Horses on Tuesday
While much of the Mid-Atlantic Region was spared the winter storms that graced the Northeast over the weekend, conditions will hardly be ideal for the final Tuesday card of the fall meet at Rosecroft Raceway as the track honors its top pacers.
In the second race on the card, a non-winners of $4000 last five starts class for pacers, railbound Seaforth (Chris Offutt) will seek his third straight score while taking a modest step up in class following repeat tallies against the non-winners of $2500 last five condition. Just to his outside is the durable veteran campaigner Talbot Redneck (Kim Vincent) who won three straight races earlier in the meet against non-winners of $2500 last five company and sports 52 wins from 323 career outings for owner-trainer Ken Schlotzhauer.
Right at the midway point of the card, Rosecroft will offer its weekly feature for older pacers, the $12,000 Maryland Special Open Handicap in which the inner six post positions were randomly drawn while the outer two slots were assigned.
Diamondkeeper (Roger Plante, Jr.) won last week's Maryland Special for his fourth win in 10 starts at the meet for owner-trainer Basil Sapienza and regardless of his effort on Tuesday he will take home the coveted prize of being named horse of the meet by Rosecroft Raceway/Maryland Jockey Club track management. Diamondkeeper will also get another trophy from the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association for being the Ocean Downs summer meet champ.
Speaking of the scribes, they will present Hide Me Away (Jared Moyer), assigned the outside eight hole for owner-trainer Arty Foster, Jr., courtesy of a three-race win streak, with the trophy for being their choice as the Rosecroft fall meet champ. Hide Me Away beat conditioned foes early in the meet and brings a three-race win streak into the finale on Tuesday, the last two of which from his assigned post eight. He has won his last three outings in 1:52, 1:52.2 and 1:51.1 with three different drivers in the bike.

Then three races later in the non-winners of $4000 last five starts class, Caviart Tyler (Thompson) gets some serious class relief and drops into a level lower than the one he handled in 1:51.4 on October 25. Avenue Hanover (Sean Bier) also drops out of a tougher spot, while Dancing Rusty (Plante) and Ramblin Bob (Carter) both loom serious threats in this spot.
Then one race later in the non-winners of $6000 last five starts class for older pacers, railbound Spinout (Ken Weckstein) gets some class relief after consecutive starts in the Maryland Special, while Hickory Aloha (Timmy Offutt), Zoeez Boy Henry (Milby) and Beammeupscottie (Thompson) have raced well at this level at the meet and P L Hoofhearted (Carter) has won three of his last five starts here for trainer Walter Birney, Jr. and will look to use his solid late kick to overcome post eight.
