Santa Anita - Maiden Claiming, May 10, 2014

May 11th, 2014

Santa Anita 7 | 7:00 pm ET $75,000 Maiden Claimer for 3&Up F&M going about 6.5f (T)

NAZARETH enters this high-dollar maiden claimer as the filly to beat, but she is winless in four career starts and is dependent on pace. The pace does not look very fast on paper so the daughter of Bluegrass Cat may have to run her best race. Expect a jockey switch from the named Rafael Bejarano, who was involved in a spill on Saturday. NIKKI ALLYN gets the nod as the most likely to take the early initiative and should be a solid number on the odds board. If near her 4-1 morning line, bet early and often. The other first-time starter with a chance is OEIGHTER from the Philip D'Amato barn. D'Amato had two starters in a race on Saturday down the hill and it was the first-time-starter that carved out the early fractions. Jockey Edwin Maldonado is named to ride and he knows how to win on the front end. EDITOR'S CUT and KRISTINITE are two worth considering for including on any pick-4 wager. EDITOR'S CUT makes her second career start while KRISTINITE makes her first start as a three-year-old after an 11 month layoff. If anyone could pressure NIKKI ALLYN early, it may be KRISTINITE.
