Santa Anita Thursday, February 27, 2014 Race 1 Post Time: 4:00 pm ET Race 3 Post Time: 5:00 pm ET

There is rain in the forecast for Thursday at Santa Anita so make sure to check the late changes including scratches and surface switches.

Race 3: Normally with the turf rails out at 24 feet we look for a horse to win wire to wire, but this race features plenty of speed, which should help the chances of ARCTIC CODE and SUDDEN RUMOR. ARCTIC CODE gets a huge jockey switch to Corey Nakatani while SUDDEN RUMOR is likely to sit off the pace breaking from post six. THIS CAT'S AWESOME and ZACKOS MY MAN are the aforementioned speed. On dirt, THIS CAT'S AWESOME and SUDDEN RUMOR are the two.

Race 4: The previous race should set up for the closers, but you never know with turf racing. This race; however, is going to fall apart late. Four of the seven entrants stretch out from sprints and another does his running on the pace leaving TUCKERS POINT and LONDINIUM the two most likely to be running on late. LONDINIUM does have tactical speed and will be in front of his rival turning for home.

Race 5: Not an easy race to end the pick-5, early pick-4 and to start the late pick-4 as a field of ten go one mile on the turf. FOUR BETTER, READYFORHERCLOSEUP and LILLY'S PERFECT draw to get the run of the race with contenders LOVE TALE and HARD BUNS stuck on the outside. GITTEL is a better mare on dirt and a danger if moved to the main track.

Race 6: THISONESFORRICKY is ready to win in her seventh career start for trainer Marty Jones and the Black Rock Stables LLC. The five-year-old mare ran very well in her first start off an eight month layoff and has worked well since. DREAMY BLUES finished a half length ahead of the top choice in the same race and gets in light with the bug boy named to ride.

Race 7: MAGIC CHANNEL stretches out from a race down the hill, but is two-for-three around two turns in the U.S. and will be running into a solid pace with EL COMMODORE, AMERICAN ACT and BATTI MAN and expected to fight for the lead. STONEY FLEECE is a closer and drew well in post three, but most of his better races have been at longer distances. BATTI MAN would appreciate the race being run on the dirt and is one-for-one over a wet track.

Race 8: It's now or never may be a bit harsh for DIVINE WAY, but she is the most likely winner on the card and will be a pick-6 single for the majority of smaller tickets. She drops from maiden special weight races, switches to Rafael Bejarano and should be long gone at odds on. The only caveat is this will be her first start on dirt. If' it's not her, it could be anyone. NEW NATURE is the second choice on the line coming off a third place finish versus similar. Trainer Richard Baltas sends out a pair of contenders; TIZ BUT A DREAM makes her career debut while MAJESTIC DREAM was fourth in her debut, just over three lengths behind NEW NATURE.
