EMOLLIENT is a Grade 1 winner on turf and synthetic and even money on the morning line, but if you are going to take a shot and wager against her, this is the race. The Empire Maker filly has not run since the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf over four months ago and may need one to show her best. It's interesting that Bill Mott, trainer of EMOLLIENT, also sends FLORAL ROMANCE from Florida for the race. She will be running late while the favorite will be setting or pressing the pace. MISS SERENDIPITY scratched out of the Santa Margarita on Saturday and may be worth a bet to upset here. Bred in Argentina, MISS SERENDIPITY is coming off a fourth place finish in the Grade 2 Buena Vista behind three very nice turf mares. She was pressured every step of the way that day and if EMOLLIENT doesn't make the lead, MISS SERENDIPITY will be right there. EMOTIONAL KITTEN has not been out since winning the Grade 2 Mrs Revere at Churchill Downs in mid-November and while she gets her preferred nine furlong distance, the pace set up just does not favor her late kick. Going to try to shake things up here with a straight trifecta MISS SERENDIPITY with EMOLLIENT with EMOTIONAL KITTEN.
