Santa Anita Sunday Pick 5 - April 6, 2014
Post Time 3:30 pm ET
Race 1: CINCO DE MARIO looks to have found a field to get that ever elusive second career win. He drops from tougher and can win on or near the pace. CRUSHER goes first off-the-claim for trainer Bob Hess and can is the morning line 9-5 favorite. The race does have a lot of speed, which helps the long shots hopes of SMART MASTERPIECE and TIZ FUTURITY.
Race 2: SCENE QUEEN drops another level for Richard Baltas and looks like a must use on the pick-5 wager. HEY PRETTY GIRL drops from two straight maiden special weight races and ran second in this level in her debut on the synthetic at Hollywood Park. SABLE IN SILKS and KISSIN LUCKY LIPS rate a look on larger tickets.
Race 3: A single on many tickets may be SEA JOHN'S SPIRIT, who ran second at the level last month, finishing nearly two lengths clear of the third place finisher. COPPEROPOLIS and YES SHE'S UNUSUAL look like the speed.
Race 4: Need a long shot to bet and to spice up the pick-5 ticket so going to side with SHOWME YOURFRIENDS. The six-year-old gelding has won down the hill before and there is enough speed in the race to set up his late kick. MR. ORNERY is another that will be doing his best work late and has a win over the course. HE'S A DANCE STAR and BIG NOTE are the two to beat, both do their best racing up front.
Race 5: GISELE AT FONZ'S drops in claiming price and gets back with California-breds in this five and one-half furlong sprint. She could be long gone under jockey Victor Espinoza. Come and catch her. If she doesn't win, anything can happen. IRISH AND LUCKY, MY MONET, THEATRICAL CAST and SUSAN B GOOD are all first-time-starters that could upset the apple cart if ready to roll.
