Semi-Finals of IronHound Stakes
Just one round remaining to determine just who is going to be in the finals of the 2017 edition of the IronHound Stakes. All 16 greyhounds remain, and this rounds test come your way over the 550-yard course. These greyhounds had to run 550 at some point, before they jumped to the longer routes, so let’s see just who can remember how to get the job done over the sprint course. A couple the greyhound have just recently been competing in grade A at 550, so they should have an edge over the competition.
Semi-Finals of IronHound Stakes
Saturday Evening March 25th, 2017
Race 7 – No brainer for me in this effort as Sheezsohot is the only greyhound showing 550 lines in the program. Not only was she competing at 550, she was running in grade A and finishing in the money. Here she gets a great inside post position, and with no break to her inside, she should be in contention for the front end at the start of this race. Once clear she knows how to get things done and I think she takes home a cool 19 points for her efforts in this race. Pushing her throughout should be Lee Trinity. Trinity just won the 330 portion of the event, and if she breaks like that again, she could have back to back scores in the rounds. She has a solid rush and is no out of any race, and the midtrack post might just aide her tonight as well. Look for her to be a force throughout again tonight. Pat C Da Ta has been roughed up in the rounds, but is looking to a chance to make it to the 770 portion of this event. Look there and she has 2 wins and 3 thirds in her last 4 efforts over the marathon course. She will need to win here to have a chance, so let’s see if she is up to the task at hand. She likes it midtrack, so the post is fine, she just needs a clean early trip to get the job done. Last but not least in the superfecta is Trackinfo Rich. Rich is a strong closer that won in round 1 and is looking to get back there in this race. He can come from way off the pace and will be a strong late factor again tonight. He too likes it midtrack and should flourish from the post with the extra space at the break. Best of the rest is his title in this race tonight. (3-6-5-4)
Race 11 – And now for the biggest lock on the card… Boc’s Queen Lady! This greyhound made the finals of the 2017 $50,000 James J Patton Silver Cup over the 550-yard course, and she even won a round against the best sprinters at the racetrack. No offense, but these are not the best sprinters at the racetrack, so she has a completed edge over the rest of this field. She loves the post as well, midtrack to inside, and will get extra room at the break with the empty post next door. She has it all in this effort and I will be shocked if she loses this effort. Trying their best to dethrone the Queen, see what I did there? LOL, will be Pat C Hartie. Hartie has just missed in both rounds 1 and 2, just like Lady, and will try and make the most of this ideal rail post position. He has had some success over the shorter course and should factor for most this effort. If he can clear early, he might have a shot at the upset. Ww Blair won the 660 race in round 1, and almost cleared to the rail in round 2, but found trouble and finished out of the money. Back on the rail tonight, he has enough early to be around the leaders and should make up ground as the race unfolds in front of him. Don’t count him out here as I think he too could be Budweiser worthy if it all plays out right for him from the start. Jack’s Big Drama is the other greyhound to consider in this effort. He has had good success over the 550-yard course and is riding high off a win last time out in the 330 round of the stakes. He can break on occasion and will need to from this outside post position tonight. Like the rest, he must be around the conversation early on if he wants a chance to win this effort. Look for him to gain late and eeck out a spot in the superfecta at the finish line. (4-2-3-6)
The finals of the 2017 IronHound stakes will take place on Saturday evening April 1st at bestbet Jacksonville over the 770-yard course in conjunction with our Losers Always Win Promotion.
