SOUTHLAND Preview - Friday evening, August 14
Welcome to another Friday evening card of exciting greyhound racing at Southland as there are 18 entertaining races on tap for your viewing and wagering pleasure. For the past several days MoneyMaker Mike has been giving out four longshot selections for those of you who requested that I give some choices that could bring a nice return on your investment. The only requirement for a longshot pick is that the greyhounds selected not be one of the four favorites at the bottom of the program. These are picks that I think stand a decent chance of finishing in the top three and helping make the ticket a nice paying one. I will be giving a recap of how the selections did over the weekend so hopefully Friday's picks can provide some extra cash in your pocket. Always remember that should you have any questions about wagering opportunities or opening an account BETAMERICA will be more then glad to help you.
Race 4 - 583 yards - Grade M - PJ BURNINITDOWN - 3 box - Despite there being a lot of early speed in this maiden race, I'm going take a chance on him to be among the frontrunners right out of the box and find a running lane to clear the turn in a good enough spot to challenge for the win. Just a pup but did have a nice 4th place finish in his first official start.
Race 5 - 583 yards - Grade D - PJ THROW BACK - box 1 - Going with a young pup in this one as I like his last two efforts where he has run 2nd and 3rd and he's looked a lot more in form so I'll give him a shot from the one box. I am hoping he breaks quickly and can get to the turn in decent shape and be in position to challenge the frontrunners. He's looks to have a decent late run so at odds of 5-1 or better, worth a play here.
Race10- 583 yards - Grade AA - SLATEX TAOS - box 1 - This rail runner is where he wants to be and is coming off a nice Grade A win last time out. The program odds of 7-1 probably will go down but still a decent wagering opportunity due to his post position.
Race13- 660 yards - Grade B - SE'S THE COMMISH - box 3 - I will give a shot to the Derby Lane invader as he schooled well in his first time on the track, finishing 2nd. He came right back over this distance and ran a strong race finishing in a dead heat for 2nd. Tons of late speed for this inside running greyhound and showing big odds on the program, will at least use him in a small play if nothing else.
Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading. I will have a recap in a few days of how the longshot picks did over the past week.
