SOUTHLAND Preview - Monday twilight 11/17/18 features 3 greyhounds worth playing in MoneyMaker Mike's picks

November 17th, 2014

At Southland today,  MoneyMaker Mike has selected several greyhounds that could deliver big efforts and some nice size payoffs so let's look at a few of the choices for this card. I am often asked about my MoneyMaker plays and what criteria do I use in choosing them as I usually only have one MoneyMaker play of the card. The simple answer to that is I that I try to pick a greyhound that is not on the morning line and one that could bring a nice return on your wagering investment. Look for more of these selections in the coming weeks. Along with the selections I will also check the progress of our 5 up and coming greyhounds at Southland that I posted about a week or so back. Thanks for reading and good luck to all.

In today's 2nd race, a Grade C contest over the 583 yard course we have one of our 5 up and coming greyhounds at Southland running in the 6 box, TC'S MIKE TROUT. This young greyhound is 6 out of 9 in the money including two wins and has a good rush as well as a strong move late. Likes the inside but can run from anywhere on the track, capable of a big race here.

Monday's MoneyMaker picks start in the 3rd, a Grade M race over the 583 yard course and I believe the (3) ROC A BY CHROME could be the surprise of the program. He's only had two schooling starts and while he did have trouble in both of them, he did show promise in his one official start as he was running 3rd before encountering trouble on the far turn. Looks to be a wide runner so while his post position isn't the best he does show some early speed along with a late move and I'll give him a shot to avoid trouble at the break and get to the turn in good shape.

Another MoneyMaker pick is in the 6th race, a Grade D contest and I'm going with the (1) CBJ CASPER to pull the upset. He likes the rail and hasn't had the one box in almost 3 months. He has encountered much trouble of late with his best finish being a 3rd in his last 8 races but I like him because of his post position and does show a schooling race win from the one box just a few weeks ago. I also like him because of what doesn't show on the program, the last two times he had the one box, once in late August, and once in early Sept, he won both a Grade D race as well as a Grade C so I'm going with him here. Needs to break fast and clean and if he does, I like my chances.

The final MoneyMaker pick of the program is in the 13th, a Grade D race over the 660 yard course and the play is the (5) DUTCH BELLA. She's not on the morning line even though she is a double drop in class and hopefully we can get good odds on here. I will be honest, on the minus side, she has run into trouble in 6 straight races. On a much more positive note however, in the two races preceding those, she did win a Grade C race over this distance and from the same 5 box she drew this evening as well as finishing 3rd in Grade B before starting her slide back down the ladder. I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt and hoping she can get clear early.

Thanks for reading, good luck everyone.
