SOUTHLAND Preview - Monday twilight, August 10
Welcome to another Monday twilight race card of exciting greyhound racing at Southland as there are 18 entertaining races on tap for your viewing and wagering pleasure. For the next few days MoneyMaker Mike will give four longshot selections for those of you who have requested that I give out some picks that could bring a nice return on your investment. The only requirement for a longshot pick is that the greyhounds selected not be one of the four favorites at the bottom of the program. These are picks that I think stand a decent chance of finishing in the top three and helping make the ticket a nice paying one. Always remember that should you have any questions about wagering opportunities or opening an account BETAMERICA can assist you and help you in those areas. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
Race 1 - 583 yard course - Grade M - SG'S YOGI BERRA - 7 box - He probably won't go off at 16-1 as he's listed now but he is worth taking a chance on as he shows very good early speed to go along with a mid to wide running style and he's drawn a good post position for that here. He also happens to show the best time on the page at 32.46 (that was a schooling race time) so I can't overlook him in this contest.
Race 6 - 583 yard course - Grade D - CTW DANCIN FOOL - 7 box - Despite having much trouble of late, he's still managed to come away with a couple of top four finishes in his past few races. Has an inside running style but since there are several other rail running greyhounds in this race, he might use this post position to avoid early trouble and find himself near the lead as they clear the turn so I'll take a chance on him at 7-1 or so.
Race 7 - 583 yard course - Grade A - INTERROGATOR - 7 box - Lots of positives about this greyhound in this race as he has a good strong rush to the turn, he's posted well for a mid-track style and has recently dropped in class. Showing 10-1 odds on the program, I got to give him a good shot here.
Race18- 660 yard course - Grade A - ELLIE - 3 box - While only showing one distance race in her last six races on the program one might think she's a relative newcomer to the 660 yard course but that's not the case at all. She's won at this distance and in top grades so while I don't think she comes anywhere near to getting 18-1 odds, she's more than capable of having a huge effort here.
Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
