Southland preview - Sunday, July 10
Sunday's racing action at Southland should be full of exciting & entertaining paw to paw action and I'm going to be watching 3 greyhounds in particular to see how they do. There are 18 races on the Sunday twilight program and I'll take a look at the 3 races that involved the greyhounds that I've been following as of late. Race 9 - I will be watching to see if THEEREE (3 box) can get back to her winning ways. She's won only one race in the last month but don't let that discourage you as she did come close to making the finals of the recently completed 2016 Southland Derby. The competition in this race won't be as daunting and she does have 23 top four finishes in 32 races this season, including 11 wins. A hard runner who gives it her all each time out, I look for her to battle for the win here.
Race 15 - Here I will be checking out FLYING TIGERBABY (7 box) as she heads back to the 660 yard distance after a few races over the 583 yard course. Post position will make it tough for her as she has an inside rail running style but I wouldn't be surprised to see her hit the lid and challenge for the lead right out of the box. She is well rested after being off track for a month or so with this being only her 3rd start since returning and don't overlook the fact that her last win came at this distance in a sizzling time of 36.85.
Race 18 - Also a 660 race and OSHKOSH FANTASIA (8 box) is the greyhound I will be watching closely in this one. She is going after her 3rd straight win here and with the way she's been running, odds are good that she will get it. In her last 7 races she's gotten 3 wins, 2 second and 2 third place finishes so with that solid consistency I'm all aboard.
Race 9 - I will be watching to see if THEEREE (3 box) can get back to her winning ways.
