SOUTHLAND Preview - Sunday matinee, February 22
Good afternoon to everyone and welcome to Southland where there are 18 exciting greyhound races on tap for today. After going over the program, I found several appealing contests that stand out as solid wagering opportunities and I've listed those below. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
Race 6 - This is a Grade B contest over the 583 yard course and the pick is the (9) HL'S TRAVIS. I like this greyhound because of his starting position as he is a mid to wide runner with decent early speed and I think he's out of the box and among the frontrunners as they make the turn. He's a solid top grade runner with proven stakes experience so I'll use him as the key as I think he has enough to put the challengers away down the stretch. I will play the (9) with the 1/4/5 in quinielas and tri's as well as playing the dime superfecta with the 9-all-8-all, 9-all-all-8, all-9-8-all and all-9-all-8.
Race 10 - This is a Grade AA contest over the 583 yard course and the pick is the (4) CHASMO'S DIESEL. This impressive young pup is full of talent and abilities and with just 14 starts so far in his career has already accumulated 10 wins, two seconds and a fourth place finish. He was the 2014 Southland Juvenile Champ stakes winner and even though he's been off the track since the middle of December, his schooling race a few days ago shows he's ready to run as he won that race by 9 lengths. This young pup has a very bright future ahead of him, no doubt about it. I will play the 4 with the 1/5/6 in quinielas and tri's as well as play the dime superfecta with the 4-all-2-all. 4-all-all-2, all-4-2-all & all-4-all-2.
Race 16 - Here is another Grade AA contest over the 583 and I'll go with the (7) CBJ OLD GLORY to make it three straight wins. It's a tough field but he's looked darn good in his past two wins and he does like it mid-track so I'll play him, the (7), with the 1/2/8 in quinielas and exactas and I will also play the 7-all-3-all, 7-all-all-3, all-7-3-all & all-7-all-3 in the dime superfecta.
Race 2 - This is the MoneyMaker pick of the afternoon, it's a Grade C race over the 660 yard course and the choice is the (2) MAGIC SPRINT. He has tons of early speed and even though he's been fading lately I think his inside running style will prove the difference in this one. I will concentrate my wagers on quinielas and play the (2) with the 1/3/5/8.
