SOUTHLAND Preview - Sunday Matinee, February 8
Welcome to another Sunday of matinee racing at Southland. On tap are 18 exciting greyhound races and for your viewing and wagering pleasure MoneyMake Mike has selected 4 races that stood out to him in going over the program and his picks are listed below. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
Race 4 - A Grade M contest over the 583 yard course and I like the (1) JJ'S FANDAGO as the one to beat. He's a young pup with an inside racing style and he's had 4 top four finishes in his 6 official starts. The one box gives him the edge here and he in two previous starts from the one box, he has a 3rd and a 4th place effort to show for it. I will play him in quinielas and tri's with the 3/7/8.
Race 5 - Here we have a Grade C race over the 583 yard course and I like the (3) AQIB TALIB as the key. He's the class of the race and seems to be getting back in form after being off the track for several months and does have 2 top four finishes in his last 6 races.
Race 7 - This is the MoneyMaker play of the day, a Grade AA contest over the 660 yard course and the choice is the (1) DISTANT DAYS. He can run from any box but he does have an inside running style so drawing the inside post position does give him the edge in this one. He might not be among the early leaders but he does have a good closing move and with most of the greyhounds in this race liking it mid to wide, there should be enough room on the rail for him to close down the leaders.
Race 10 - The highlight of the day is a Grade AA contest over the 583 yard course which features the (7) FLYING RIOT who is going after his 5th straight win and who last time out won the 2015 Southland Super Hound Championship. It's a tough field but I like the (7) with the 1/3/5.
Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
