SOUTHLAND Preview - Sunday, November 23
Welcome to our first Sunday Southland preview as we have a couple of our 5 up and coming greyhounds running today as well as three MoneyMaker picks so let's get on with the show. As always, be sure and check out TwinSpires for all your sports wagering and entertainment. Thanks for reading and good luck to everyone.
Race 8 features FLYING FIRED UP who is one of the 5 up and coming greyhounds that we posted about earlier this month. It is a Grade C race over the 583 yard course and this young greyhound is undefeated in two official starts as well as winning both of his schooling contests. He has a good rush and a strong move late and likes the inside, the 3 box he has today should help him continue his winning streak.
Race 16 has the (7) PETER MILLS, another of the 5 up and coming greyhounds at Southland. He came here from the Dubuque track with a record of 4 starts, 3 wins and a second place finish. He won his schooling race at Southland by 8 1/2 lengths but other then a 4th place effort, he hasn't shown much in his three starts here. Likes the inside and if he happens to break early and clean could bring home a nice price.
The first of today's MoneyMaker plays comes in the 4th race, a Grade M contest over the 583 yard course and the pick here is the (3) OSHKOSH GOODMAN. This is his first official start at Southland after five schooling races in which he showed some flashes of potential but probably won't draw much betting interest this time out. I like him because of his one schooling win from the one box. He has a rail running style in that race went to the front and never looked back winning by 8 lengths. I'll give him a shot to repeat that performance but he does need to come out fast and be among the frontrunners early.
Another MoneyMaker play is in the 7th race, a Grade AA contest over the 583 yard course and I'm picking the (7) BORDER CAMPAIGN as a possible big paying longshot. It's a very tough and competitive field that includes three greyhounds that were in the recent Festival Of Stakes racing but he does show a come from behind win just a few races back in Grade A as well as a third place effort in Grade AA. He has 21 top four finishes in 28 races including 5 wins so I'm willing to give him a small play at least.
The final MoneyMaker play of the day is in the 12th race, a Grade B race over the 583 yard course and I'm going with the (9) PJ RICCO SUAVE as a good upset possibility. He has a mid track running style and while this is the first time he has drawn the 9 box I believe he will have room to run from here. He does have 7 wins already in his young career of 27 races so worth a play here.
