Southland Preview - Thursday, September 10

September 10th, 2015

Welcome to another Thursday twilight card of exciting greyhound racing at Southland as there are 18 entertaining races on tap for our viewing and wagering pleasure. As most of you who follow the Southland preview blog may know, from time to time I like to go outside the box to try and give different viewpoints and perspectives of greyhound racing. Over the past week and for the rest of this week I am going to concentrate on greyhounds that have drawn the same box at least 3 times in a row and see how they do and if that gives them any extra edge that the wagering public might could use to their benefit. This will include schooling races so if a greyhound has the same post position in a schooling contest and then draws that same box in an official contest it will count for this study. Keep in mind that on some programs there may not be any  selections to be made but on others, there might be several that meet that definition. Remember that these are greyhounds that fit the criteria above and on which MoneyMaker Mike will base the selections. As always, I will give a recap of the results when the study is finished. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.

Race 11 - 583 yards - Grade B - LOGAN MANKINS - 2 box - His last two races from this box have resulted in a 5th and 8th place finish and with his mid to wide running style doesn't have the best post position here. He does show some early speed from an inside post so if he could hit the lid and avoid early trouble he might surprise here.

Race 15 - 583 yards - Grade A - ATWATER - 2 box - This makes the 4th straight race where he has drawn the 2 box and he's had good success each of those times coming away with 2 wins and a third in his three previous starts. A mid to wide running style with decent early speed out of the box, I wouldn't overlook him here to hit the money.

Race 18 - 820 yards - Grade TB - SHANAGOLDEN - 2 box - Here we have the always exciting super marathon race and in her two previous races from this box and at this distance she has finished 4th and 7th. Still, if she has a clean break and finds position early on the rail it could put her in the money here.

Good luck to all.
