SOUTHLAND Preview - Wednesday, November 18

November 18th, 2015

Welcome to another Wednesday of entertaining and exciting greyhound racing at Southland as there are 18 races on tap for the twilight card. As many of you know who follow MoneyMaker Mike's Southland previews, from time to time I like to go outside the box with picks and predictions and this week my selections on will be greyhounds dropping in class. Listed below are a few of my choices for Wednesday and don't forget to check back for other grade droppers on Friday and Saturday. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.

Race 1 - 334 yards - Grade TC - DARK N DEMURE - 2 box - Dropping to Grade C and running over the short course is a good combination for this hard running greyhound. She's a mid to wide track runner with tons of early speed and I like her in this race as she has been a solid Grade AA over most of the 2015 season. In fact, in her 75 career starts, she has only been in just 3, yes, 3 Grade C races and she has 2 wins and a 4th place finish to show for it. Look for her to be a big factor here.

Race 7 - 703 yards -  Grade D - HAWKWOOD - 5 box - Most of his races over the past 6 months have been over the 820 yard Super Marathon course but he does have 3 starts over this 703 yard course and in those starts, he had a 2nd place finish as well as two 3rd place efforts so he's not a stranger at this distance. He's another mid to wide runner who has a strong late move and now with the drop to Grade D, should be in the chase down the stretch in this one.

Race 9 - 660 yards - Grade B - BOC'SDK JETT - 5 box - I will give him a chance based off a nice schooling effort last time out and having dropped in class. He is capable of early speed and it will certainly be needed here in a very competitive field. Having been off for almost 3 weeks he should be well rested and worth a short here.

Good luck to all.
