SOUTHLAND Preview - Wednesday twilight, November 26
Wednesday's program has 18 exciting races on tap including three MoneyMaker Mike picks and is highlighted by one of the best young greyhounds in the country running in the 18th race, Counselor. He drew the 3 box in this contest and with 19 top four finishes in 20 races including 11 first place efforts he's definitely a threat to win each and every time he runs. The first MoneyMaker play comes in the 6th race, a Grade D contest over the 583 yard course with the pick being the (3) OSHKOSH ADDISON. He has an inside running style and in three races from the three box up to this point, he has two second place finishes in them. He does have some early speed so I give him a decent chance to break fast and clean, avoid trouble and get around the first turn in good shape to challenge for the win.
The next MoneyMaker play is in the 13th race, another Grade D contest over the 583 yard course and I'm going with the (6) IN MY MEMORY to return a nice price. As most of you know for my MoneyMaker pick I rarely use any greyhound that is on the morning line but he's due for a big race and this is a nine dog field. He probably won't be among the early frontrunners but he will be coming strong down the stretch and while he is 10 out 20 in the money, in three starts from the six box he has a 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finish. Give him a play here, even if it's a small one.
To complete our MoneyMaker plays for the evening, in the 16th race, a Grade C contest over the 703 yard course has me going with the (2) SE'S JET FUEL in this one. Likes the inside, has the class and will be closing fast and hard at the wire. At 10-1 on the morning line, I can't overlook him here.
Last but not least, in the 18th race, a Grade AA contest over the 583 yard course features the multi talented COUNSELOR running from the 3 box. This greyhound is barely two years old but runs with the heart and determination of a champion and has shown to be a threat from any box at any time. The future is extremely bright for him and the sky is the limit.
