Sunday's notable 2-year-old maidens: 2nd at Saratoga

Saratoga's 2ND race, 1 1/16 miles on inner turf for fillies (1:33 p.m.)

Michael Tabor's Thrilled is a daughter of hot freshman sire Uncle Mo and Virginia Oaks (G3) winner Excited, by Giant's Causeway. Her dam is a full sister to stakes victress Wait Til Dawn, and her second dam, multiple stakes-winning Path of Thunder, is in turn a full sister to Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) heroine Spain. The latest celebrity from this family is current Irish 1000 Guineas (G1) queen Pleascach. The stamina on the dam's side should serve her well in her debut around two turns for Todd Pletcher.

Ava's Kitten is a full sister to multiple Grade 1-winning turf millionaire Real Solution. The Kitten's Joy filly is of course a Ramsey homebred trained by Chad Brown. The Ramseys are responsible for the lone also-eligible, Devilish Kitten, who has placed in her two turf sprint appearances. Trained by Wesley Ward, this Kitten's Joy filly would benefit from added ground.

Mark Casse has two engaged. Sweetwater, from the first crop of Twirling Candy, is out of a Meadowlake half-sister to Grade 1-winning sprinter (and synthetic specialist) El Brujo. The booking of Jose Lezcano, and solid work pattern, imply she's the stable's preferred. Fellow firster Reimburse is bred to enjoy the turf, as a daughter of Artie Schiller.

The Bill Mott-trained Harmonize is by Scat Daddy and out of a Sky Mesa half-sister to the dam of Grade 2-winning turf millionaire Al Khali. Thus current sophomore Japan is also close up in her terrific family, which features Verrazano, Somali Lemonade, Hungry Island and another notable three-year-old in Keen Ice.

Parker Lily, a bargain $8,000 weanling and $17,000 yearling, sold for $190,000 at OBS March. A closing second as the 4-5 favorite in a dirt sprint at Parx, the Graham Motion trainee could profit by the surface switch. Her dam, the Stravinsky mare Calamity Girl, placed in a turf sprint stakes. Further back in the line, one finds champion turf horse Tight Spot and $2.5 million-earner Premium Tap.

Lope is a Claiborne Farm blueblood. Bred on the same cross as Blame (Arch over Seeking the Gold), the Al Stall Jr. pupil is out of a half-sister to Grade 1 turf star Stroll and a Grade 1-placed turf stakes winner in Patrol. It goes without saying that her thoroughly British family is a strong turf influence. Post 10 is a real concern for this firster, as is the fact that she's an April 25 foal.

Clever Run, a $190,000 Keeneland September yearling, is by Smart Strike and out of Black-Eyed Susan (G2) winner Chamrousse, who has produced five winners so far. The pedigree is promising for turf, but as with all Rusty Arnold debutantes, we'll look for her to improve with this under her belt.

Crazy Cat Woman, another Kitten's Joy, hails from the barn of Joe Sharp. She can be forgiven for her fourth as the 3-1 favorite on debut at Belmont, where she lunged at the start. She was produced by the stakes-winning Lion Heart mare Mayhaw.
