Sunday's the Day for Perfect Tay at Woodbine

It's been 17 months since Perfect Tay made the last of his four trips to the winner's circle. He lost twice after that win before going on the shelf for more than a year and returning to the races as a seven-year-old. He was closer to the pace that day--perhaps keen off the layoff--before getting shuffled back and coming on again to miss by two lengths while lacking room and running "gamely" according to the chart comments.
On Sunday, Perfect Tay makes his second start off the layoff, and a move forward to the mid to upper 80s Speed Rating he is capable of registering lays over this field and makes the 7-to-2 third choice the right price on this nondescript field of claimers.
The race kicks off the $0.20 late Pick 4 that concludes with race 10 and includes the Grade 3 Royal North Stakes featuring 2015 TwinSpires.com Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint runner-up Lady Shipman, who disappointed at 11-to-20 last time on Queen's Plate day but finds an even softer group here with only She's Explosive or River Maid having run well enough even once to compete with Lady Shipman's consistent figures.
