Super $90 Freshman Filly Blasts At Hoosier; $18 Winners At Scioto, Monticello; H2W Marks 52-Percent In-The-Money Average

TwinSpires Staff

July 10th, 2016

On Twitter last Wednesday, July 6, we offered three spot plays at Northfield. The three races were also a Pick 3. In Race 9 we were third with Sharp Action ($3.40). We were third again in Race 10 and the 60-1 Game Amelia ($6.80). At 21-1, we were fifth in Race 11 with Awestreos.

On various Wednesday nights we tweet for TwinSpires Twitter members from @FrankCotolo –retweeted by @twinspires—and the raceway involved. Losers from each week will appear on the next week’s horses-to-watch (H2W) list unless they race before that blog is published, so watch for them returning to the races on days in between blogs. Watch for special tweets from raceways on various Wednesdays.

The weekend features began on Friday, July 8, presenting one of our exclusive hot two-year-old horses to watch which produced the highest winner we have given out thus far in 2016. The 44-1 frosh filly pacer is Rockin Serena ($90.00, $24.40, $7.40) won the Indiana Sires Stakes Final for the division. In the final for soph-filly pacers we were third with Topville Cadillac ($2.80).

Saturday there were three major events at the Meadowlands, beginning with the Meadowlands Pace Elimination, a mile that raced to eliminate only one horse from next week’s final. We warned of the potency of Control The Moment and he soared to victory as the public choice. We completed the $18.20 exacta with Lyons Snyder ($4.00, $3.40), while our other contender, Boston Red Rocks (2-1) was sixth.

The trotting Graduate final found our choice, Canepa Hanover, go off at a surprising 9-2. We expected him to be higher odds but he raced like he was higher odds, that is, terribly. He did not break but his seventh position at the finish line made us wonder if we would see him competing again at all this season with any of the top four-year-olds. The defining sign will be if he leaves Jimmy Takter’s barn.

Wiggle It Jiggleit won the Graduate Pace Final, as most expected, as the public choice with the obvious second choice, Freaky Feet Pete second and our choice, Rock N Roll World ($6.40) completing the $26.00 trifecta (a $1 wager price).

HAMBLETONIAN TRAIL

On the Meadowlands July 9 program there were two W.N. Reynolds stakes for soph-filly trotters. We were fifth in the first division (won by a Takter favorite) with Dream Child (45-1) and sixth in the second division (won by an 11-1 shot) with 8-1 Spicedbourbongirl.

The Open Trot that night was won by our first choice, Jack Vernon (6-1) even though he broke stride at the top of the stretch. However, he won galloping so he was disqualified and placed ninth, making Marion Maurader ($15.20, $4.40, $2.60), our second choice, placed first and inheriting the win.

Finally, our freshman role call at the Meadows hit with Glazzine Hanover ($4.20, $2.20, $2.20 ok), while Gigi From Fiji ($2.20) was third and Anna D (37-1) was seventh. At Hoosier, Hold The Gold (6-1) was eighth and Emma Ivy (12-1) was seventh in a dead heat.

H2W LIST RESULTS

The H2W results list across-the-board prices. Also, exactas listed are included when a H2W horse finishes second with a race favorite or the first two finishers making up the exacta are H2W horses (an asterisk appears when both horses were listed to complete a cold exacta). The note “ok” determines that prices published are correct even when a show price exceeds a place price or any or all of the prices are the same. This week, there were 66 active horses (an 15-percent win hit rate and a 52-percent in-the-money hit rate).

Please note that some H2W results reflect win, place, show and exotic results occurring by press time but some horses race after the blog is posted (we list them the following week) It is up to you to follow horses that have not performed before this weekly review is posted.
