COUSIN STEPHEN was the pick of the Stephen F. Davis, the local prep for the Tampa Bay Derby, in February, but he could not hold late and finished third. VINCEREMOS won the Davis by a nose and both are back for the TB Derby on Saturday. While these two colts headline the field, the pick is going to be CONQUEST TITAN, the Mark Casse-trained son of Birdstone who finished second behind Cairo Prince in the Holy Bull in January at Gulfstream Park. CONQUEST TITAN should get the pace to run at, but is likely to be bet off of the Holy Bull race, especially since the third place horse, Intense Holiday, came right back to win the Grade 2 Risen Star at Fair Grounds in his next start. On the same angle, the second place horse in the Stephen F. Davis, Harpoon, came back to run fifth in the Grade 3 Gotham. HY KODIAK WARRIOR may be overlooked on the board, but is worth using in the exotics wagers. The son of Kodiak Kowboy has yet to finish worse that fourth in his career and ran a good third behind Commissioner and Top Billing two months ago. Bullet workouts the last two moves in the morning and HY KODIAK WARRIOR may be sitting on a huge effort. SURFING U S A ships in from Gulfstream and makes his second start off a two month layoff. Second to Top Billing last out, SURFING U S A adds pace to the race.
