Fountain of Youth Contenders

#1 DRAIN THE CLOCK is 3-for-3 on the strip including a dominant tally in the Swale S. (G3) last time out. The Joseph trainee might not be the top candidate for the classic races, but he is the inside speed of this field, and I like his chances to lead at every call while making his route debut. Edgard Zayas retains the mount.

#2 PRIME FACTOR finished a distant third as the favorite in the recent Holy Bull S. (G3) for Pletcher. Twice-raced Quality Road colt has obvious room for improvement with additional seasoning, and the $900,000 yearling shows two strong half-mile drills in advance of his second graded attempt, as well. Irad stays in the silks.

#3 SOSOSUBTLE left an impression on me with his eye-popping maiden win at one mile on the surface in his second career engagement. Speightster gelding takes a huge class jump on Saturday, but he can outrun his odds with even minor improvement for de la Cerda. Paco Lopez riding adds to the appeal.

#4 FIRE AT WILL capped a fine two-year-old season with a daylight victory in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) for Maker. Declaration of War colt graduated at Saratoga in his lone prior run on the dirt, and I think that he will handle the surface following seven local morning moves.

#5 JIRAFALES was a non-factor when a distant fifth in the Holy Bull, and he faces a tougher cast on Saturday. Social Inclusion colt would be a big surprise.

#6 KING’S OVATION closed to be runner-up in the Swale most recently for Dale Romans. Chestnut son of Not This Time has not been consistent to this point, but he could challenge for a minor prize if he runs to his bullet work last week.

#7 TARANTINO was game in the stretch when battling back to be a clear second in the Holy Bull, his initial dirt performance for Brisset. Pioneerof the Nile sophomore has displayed class with four straight top-two performances, and he is bred to run all day, as well. Tyler Gaffalione will guide the win threat.

#8 GREATEST HONOUR earned a hefty 103 Brisnet Speed figure for his dominant victory in the Holy Bull for Shug McGaughey. Rapidly ascending son of Tapit has moved forward in each career performance to date, and another top showing is expected from off the pace in the Fountain of Youth. Jose Ortiz stays in the stirrups.

#9 TIZ TACT TOE makes his first run since being claimed for $50,000 by Hess. Tourist gelding has never run on the dirt, and I can’t endorse him against this fine field.

#10 PAPETU was outrun in the recent Holy Bull when fourth and draws widest of all on Saturday. Capable Dialed In colt likes the surface, but he will need a career-best showing to make the frame in this spot.
