Three horses of interest on final Starlight Racing program

Tonight marks the final Starlight Racing program of the Fair Grounds meet, with a 1st-race post at 6 p.m. (ET), and TwinSpires.com is offering players 50X points for losing win wagers. Be sure to “Opt In” and bet at least $10 or more to win on any race.

Here are three horses I like on the program:

Race 1

#3 Persuade Me Lady (12-1 morning line) goes turf-to-dirt for new connections and note she’s run well in two previous attempts sprinting on the Fair Grounds turf. Her BRIS Late Pace numbers are among the best in the field and 5yo mare has a live inside post and the right run style, according to Track Bias Stats in BRIS Ultimate PPs, especially with plenty of pace present to set up her stalk-and-pounce trip. She has a win and a close second in her last three starts and fits well at this level; chance at a price.

Race 5

Speed and a rail post has more lethal than ever of late in 6-furlong sprints and #1 Tuckaway (12-1), who registered a 98 BRIS E1 Pace rating last out, has a chance to clear from the inside in field lacking pace. He’s shown improved early speed this winter at Fair Grounds, dueling on the front end in the last two, and trainer Jeff Thornbury adds blinkers to keep the front-runner focused. Probably will get bet down from his morning-line odds and I like his chances on the lead.

Race 7

#6 Phenomenal Phoenix (6-1) steps up a level off a 30-1 upset in which he started slowly and rolled home to a one-length decision, registering an 85 BRIS Speed rating that stacks up well tonight. The 5yo gelding strung together good efforts last fall for Ron Moquett, leading wire-to-wire in the second start, and Phenomenal Phoenix is eligible to show speed in a seven-horse field lacking a confirmed front-runner. Looks capable of winning right back.

Good luck!
