Thursday Harness Preview for 3/6/2014
by Ted Black

The Thursday evening cards at Dover Downs and The Meadowlands offer a good blend of quality and quantity with full fields at both tracks that should lead to a handful of generous flat payouts.
Thursday's Dover Downs card solid from top to bottom despite the absence of the Open/Preferred Handicap. It should be noted that three-time Open/Prf winner Dancin Yankee finished second in the top class at Yonkers Raceway last Saturday evening despite starting from the seven hole and that one should be a regular fixture in the upcoming George Morton Levy Memorial Series at the New York half-mile oval.
In the fifth, the restricted Open for five-year-old and under pacers, look for Lindwood Player to prevail at a nice price thanks to the presence of Meadowlands invader, Emeritus Maximus. Last week in the Open, Lindwood Player rallied from well off the pace and third over behind dull cover to finish third in a good effort. With the expensive Emeritus Maximus in the field and Don't Ya Know moving up off a sharp score in the non-winners of $12,001 last six group, Lindwood Player should benefit from an honest early tempo and come rolling home late at 10-1.
Then in the sixth, a non-winners of five races lifetime class, give Fiftyshadesdarker an immediate chance at redemption. Last week he set fast early fractions obly to be nailed late, but this evening her should be able to stroll by the midway station in 57 flat and that will certainly enable the Leigh Raymer trainee to have plenty left in reserve.
Much later in the 13th race, look for Cams Art to regain his winning ways in this non-winners of $12,001 last six class. Two starts back the former Open and Delaware Special champ uncorked a sharp, 1:51.2 score on a Sunday night when fast clockings were not expected. After a dull effort against tougher last week, look for Cams Art to rebound with his second tally of the season.
Then two races later in the finale, expect the Cams Art form to hold by taking Charger in this non-winners of $9001 last six group. Last weekend Charger rebounded from his four-length setback to Cams Art by winning in a conditioned event from off the pace and he should benefit from an honest tempo again in this field.
At The Meadowlands, which typically saves its best cards for Saturday, a pair of horses look like decent plays on the Thursday card.
In the third, a non-winners of two races lifetime class for trotters, give Dot Dot Dot Dash a chance to atone for his second-place finish as the odds-on choice a week ago. Then in the eighth, a C-2 class for older pacers, look for Fresh Dream to garner his first victory in six tries this year. Last week he was parked the mile and finished second in a very good try and merits some flat plays here at 8-1 on the morning line.
