Thistledown: Race 3: Maiden Special Weight (five furlongs on dirt, 1:50 p.m. ET)

#3 Miss Elecktra (2-1) is a first-time starter from the barn of Jason DaCosta, a 41% winner with first-time starters. Since 2022, DaCosta has compiled a stellar 4-for-7 (57%) record debuting horses at Thistledown.

Miss Elecktra enters off fast workouts, including a bullet half-mile from the Thistledown starting gate in :47 2/5, and looks ready for a victorious performance. A win bet is in order, along with an exacta using #5 Day Not Like Us (9-2) and #6 Striking Lady (12-1) for second place.

#7 Off Script (5-2) showed promise competing against New York-breds last year, finishing second in a trio of maiden special weights at Saratoga and Aqueduct. Along the way, she earned Brisnet Speed ratings of 77, 87, and 86, all of which are higher than the par winning number (76) for Tuesday’s conditions at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Off Script hasn’t run since October, but trainer William Walden wins at a 20% rate with horses returning from layoffs of 90 days or more, so the time off shouldn’t be a concern. Let’s bet Off Script to win and single her to start a double bet.

Horseshoe Indianapolis: Race 4: Allowance (six furlongs on dirt, 3:43 p.m. ET)

#4 Gettysburg Address (9-2) has spent much of his career running long, even making three starts on the 2023-24 Road to the Kentucky Derby. But both of his wins have come dashing six furlongs, so sprinting might be his true forte.

Gettysburg Address ended 2024 with a pace-pressing win in a $50,000 claimer dashing six furlongs over the Churchill Downs dirt. He earned a solid 85 Brisnet Speed rating and should have every chance to win his 2025 debut for the red-hot jockey/trainer duo of Emmanuel Esquivel and Cipriano Contreras.
