Belmont Park: Single for Sunday’s $121,890 Pick 6 carryover

After going unsolved for two days in a row, the $1 Pick 6 at Belmont Park has tossed up a huge $121,890 carryover for Sunday’s card.

There might not be any graded stakes or stakes on the agenda, but the Pick 6 carryover adds betting value to a competitive nine-race card.

Belmont Park: Race 4: $121,890 Pick 6 carryover (2:49 p.m. ET)

Winning a share of the carryover will require selecting six winners across a sequence of races containing 55 horses (averaging nearly 9.2 per race) and 532,224 possible outcomes before scratches.

It’s a difficult Pick 6, but fortunately, ticket construction is simplified by the fact #2 Perretti (8-5) in Race 9 looms as a logical single to build tickets around. Singling Perretti in Race 9’s 11-horse field will reduce the number of outcomes to consider down to 48,384.

Best single: Race 9: #2 Perretti (8-5)

Race 9, the closing leg of the Pick 6, is a $30,000 maiden claimer for three-year-olds and older horses racing 7 1/2 furlongs on turf. Perretti has only run four times in the last two years, but his infrequent races have yielded solid efforts against tough competition.

For example, in 2024, Perretti finished third and fourth in maiden special weights racing 1 1/16 miles at Aqueduct and one mile at Gulfstream Park. Then, following a lengthy layoff, Perretti returned in 2025 to finish second (beaten only three-quarters of a length) in a one-mile maiden special weight at Saratoga.

Perretti recently returned to action following a 13 1/2-month layoff in a $55,000 maiden claimer at Belmont Park. Switching from turf to Tapeta and cutting back to six furlongs may have been less than ideal, but he nevertheless finished third in a 12-horse field.

Dropping down to the $30,000 level while stretching back out in distance on turf should make Perretti tough to beat for hot trainer Philip Antonacci, a 20% winner at Belmont this meet and a 25% winner with horses running back for the second time following a layoff. Take note, Perretti owns the highest Brisnet Speed rating among the horses entered in Race 9.

Good luck!
