Handicapper J. Keeler Johnson shares horses to bet in a pair of lucrative Pick 6 carryovers on Sunday, both featuring mandatory payouts.
Sunset Six: $54,824 Pick 6 carryover (4:20 p.m. ET)
The Sunset Six, a special $1 Pick 6 comprised of the final three races apiece at Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita, boasts a $54,824 carryover for Sunday.
The third leg of the Sunset Six is Race 10 at Gulfstream Park, a $50,000 starter optional claimer for older horses sprinting five furlongs on turf. We rank #9 Boat’s a Rockin (9-5) as a viable single to build tickets around.
What is a single, and why are they valuable?

That's a great question!
Let's ask @J_Keelerman ⬇️ https://t.co/WTuXqaYlAW
Boat’s a Rockin might be nine years old, but he remains in strong form. He’s won two of his last three starts against $25,000 allowance optional claiming competition over this course and distance, earning sharp Brisnet Speed ratings of 90 and 89 that tower over the par winning number (83) for Race 10’s conditions.
Boat’s a Rockin ran particularly well in his latest start. He stayed within two lengths of blazing pace fractions (:20.66 and :42.64) before charging home on top by half a length in :54.41. His combination of early speed and tractability should allow Boat’s a Rockin to work out a perfect trip from his outside draw, setting the stage for a second straight win.
Santa Anita: Race 5: $97,983 Pick 6 carryover (5:08 p.m. ET)
The traditional $2 Pick 6 at Santa Anita has tossed up a lofty $97,983 carryover for Sunday.
The feature event in the sequence is Race 8, the Providencia S. for three-year-old fillies racing 1 1/8 miles on turf. #8 Abigail (7-2) is the slight favorite after finishing fifth in the Florida Oaks (G3). She’d previously won a maiden special weight and a $75,000 allowance optional claimer at Tampa Bay Downs by margins of three lengths.
But Abigail has yet to run particularly fast on the Brisnet Speed rating scale. We also recommend using #1 Darya (5-1), who races for the hot jockey/trainer duo of Antonio Fresu and Phil D’Amato.
Darya was much the best in a 1 1/8-mile maiden special weight at Santa Anita last month, finishing fast from off the pace to win easily by 2 3/4 lengths. She clocked her final furlong in a strong :11.33 and appears to have lots of upside.
Good luck!
