There are six stakes on the Saturday card at Colonial Downs, and they comprise an all-stakes Pick 6 with a $2,006 carryover.
The 50-cent “Old Dominion 6” Pick 6 gets underway in Race 5 at 2:03 p.m. ET. The sequence of races is as follows:
- Race 5: $125,000 Kitten’s Joy S.
- Race 6: $150,000 Colonial Cup
- Race 7: $125,000 Rosies’s S.
- Race 8: $150,000 Da Hoss S.
- Race 9: $250,000 Old Dominion Oaks
- Race 10: $500,000 Old Dominion Derby (G3)
The closing leg of the Pick 6 is the Old Dominion Derby for three-year-olds racing 1 1/8 miles over the outer turf course. Nine horses have entered, but morning-line favorite #6 World Beater (9-5) is shaping up as a trustworthy single.
World Beater is dropping in class after competing with aplomb against tougher competition at Saratoga. He finished second in the 1 1/8-mile Belmont Derby (G1) before launching a big rally to win the Saratoga Derby (G1). Those efforts earned strong Brisnet Speed ratings of 101 and 103.

None of the other Old Dominion Derby entrants have earned a Brisnet Speed rating higher than 95. None have managed to record a top-three finish in a graded stakes, either. As a result, World Beater towers over the Old Dominion Derby field and should be mighty tough to beat.
The Old Dominion Derby is preceded by the Old Dominion Oaks for three-year-old fillies traveling 1 1/8 miles on the inner turf course. #7 Evershed (2-1) looms as the filly to beat for hot trainer Arnaud Delacour, a 26% winner at Colonial Downs this meet.
Evershed’s first two turf route races yielded back-to-back maiden and allowance wins. She then stepped up in class for the 1 3/16-mile Saratoga Oaks (G2) and closed ground to finish second, earning a 98 Brisnet Speed rating that tops the Old Dominion Oaks field. None of her rivals have earned a number higher than 96, and that rival—#3 Sigh No More (5-1)—finished behind Evershed when sixth in the Saratoga Oaks.
Evershed isn’t a standout to quite the same extent as World Beater, but if you need a second Pick 6 single to keep ticket costs affordable, she’s a compelling favorite with strong win credentials.
Good luck!
