After going unsolved two days in a row, the $1 Super High 5 at Gulfstream Park boasts a large $46,080 carryover for Saturday’s card.
The prize pool is up for grabs in Race 11, a $17,500 maiden claimer in which nine horses will race one mile on turf.
Wagers
- $1 Super High 5: 7 with 4 with 2,8,9 with 2,3,8,9 with 1,2,3,6,8,9 ($36)
- $1 Super High 5: 7 with 2 with 4 with 3,8,9 with 1,3,6,8,9 ($12)
- $1 Super High 5: 7 with 2 with 8,9 with 4 with 1,3,6,8,9 ($8)
- $1 Super High 5: 7 with 2 with 8,9 with 3,8,9 with 4 ($4)
Total: $60
Although he’s a longshot on the morning line, three-year-old #7 Freedom Street (10-1) is our top choice. His recent form has been muddied by defeats on Tapeta, but his turf form is solid. He’s only run twice on grass, and while one of those efforts yielded an eighth-place finish, that was in a tough maiden special weight sprinting six furlongs over the European-style course at Kentucky Downs.
Only once has Freedom Street competed in a turf route. That was when he debuted in a one-mile maiden special weight at Gulfstream Park. After breaking a bit slowly and rating off the pace, he rallied to finish third by 1 1/2 lengths, earning an 84 Brisnet Speed rating. The form was flattered when the runner-up returned to win his next start over the same conditions.

Returning to the Gulfstream grass for a one-mile $17,500 maiden claimer should make Freedom Street a formidable win threat. None of his Race 11 rivals have ever earned a Brisnet Speed rating higher than 81, so we’ll take a stand and key Freedom Street on top of our Super High 5 tickets.
Underneath, #2 Fly Erik Fly (9-5) is worth a look for Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse. The four-year-old gelding hasn’t run in 13 months, but he’s dropping in class out of maiden special weights and boasts sharp Brisnet Speed ratings.
#4 Seawise (5-2) is another logical contender. He’s finished second in both of his turf starts, including a $17,500 maiden claimer at Gulfstream Park last time out. We’ll count on him to finish in the top five.
#8 Capt’n Pike (8-1) and #9 Animated (8-1) have repeatedly recorded top-five finishes against $17,500 maiden claiming competition and have every chance to do so again on Saturday.
We’ll round out our tickets with #1 Shace Sloane (8-1), #3 Authentic Honour (30-1), and #6 El Muheet (5-1).
Good luck!
