Gulfstream: How to bet the $6,936 Super High 5 carryover

August 17th, 2025

The Sunday card at Gulfstream Park is highlighted by a $6,936 carryover in the $1 Super High 5.

The prize pool is up for grabs in Race 10 (post time 5:52 p.m. ET). We believe winning a share is feasible on a budget of $100 or less.

Gulfstream Park $6,936 Super High 5 carryover: wager

  • $1 Super High 5: 4,8 with 4,8 with 3,6,7,9 with 3,6,7,9 with 2,3,5,6,7,9 ($96)

Race 10 is a $20,000 claimer taking place over 1 1/16 miles on turf. Nine horses have entered, so there are 15,120 possible Super High 5 outcomes.

#4 Spy Novel (3-1) is the slight favorite, and his credentials are obvious. In his most recent turf start, the five-year-old gelding closed nicely from midfield to win a one-mile $25,000 claimer at Gulfstream by a neck. Dropping down to the $20,000 level for his second start off a layoff should make Spy Novel a formidable win threat for the red-hot jockey/trainer duo of Miguel Vasquez and Nolan Ramsey.

#8 Samburu (7-2) is another logical win contender. He exits a runner-up finish (beaten only three-quarters of a length) in a $35,000 claimer racing one mile over the Gulfstream lawn, and dropping down in class should place him in the hunt for victory.

Both Spy Novel and Samburu appear to be entering Sunday’s contest on the upswing, so we’ll box them in the top two slots of our Super High 5 ticket and spread deeper underneath.

Who should we include for the minor awards? #3 Spy Hunter (8-1) is intriguing; during the spring he won a $35,000 claimer racing 1 1/16 miles over the Gulfstream turf.

#6 Flat Top Box (6-1) has tactical speed, and his latest turf try yielded a victory in a one-mile $20,000 claimer on turf at Gulfstream.

#7 Salvattore Prince (6-1) has struggled in recent tries on Tapeta, but when last seen over the Gulfstream grass, he won a one-mile $20,000 claimer.

#9 Hot Blooded (9-2) isn’t the most consistent horse in training, but his best Brisnet Speed ratings put him in the hunt against this caliber of competition.

We’ll round out the bottom of our tickets with #2 Eddie the Great (8-1) and #5 Belly of Jelly (10-1).

Good luck!
