Gulfstream Park: Horses to bet in the $9,695 Super High 5 carryover

January 4th, 2026

If you feel like chasing a non-jackpot Super High 5 carryover on Sunday, check out Gulfstream Park, where a $9,695 prize pool is up for grabs.

As usual, the Super High 5 is available to play in the final race of the day. On Sunday, that’s Race 10, a maiden special weight for three-year-old fillies racing one mile on turf. There are 16 entries, but only 10 horses will be allowed to start; six fillies are on the also-eligible list.

Here are five horses we recommend including on your tickets:

#2 Honfleur (6-1): Our top choice is Honfleur. The daughter of Omaha Beach has competed exclusively on dirt so far, finishing third and sixth in maiden special weights at Churchill Downs. But her pedigree suggests she’ll enjoy turf, and take note, trainer Chad Brown wins at a 25% rate with first-time grass starters. The addition of Lasix cements Honfleur as a compelling win contender.

#3 On Time Delivery (5-1): On Time Delivery is an unraced daughter of War Front (who sires 14% winners from first-time turf starters) out of Marlinspike, making her a full sister to Bullet, winner of the Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies S. on grass at Gulfstream Park. Trainer Graham Motion has compiled a respectable 7-1-1-1 (14%) record debuting horses in turf routes at Gulfstream since 2021, and jockey Jorge Ruiz (a 31% winner teaming up with Motion over the last two months) is named to ride.

#6 Last Curtain Call (6-1): As a daughter of Oscar Performance out of a mare by City Zip, Last Curtain Call is cut out to be a turf star. She’s already shown flashes of talent on grass, most notably finishing a pacesetting second in a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight at Keeneland. Last Curtain Call misfired in her latest start, but adding Lasix for her sophomore debut may trigger a rebound.

#7 Fraudster (4-1): Three starts on turf in New York have seen Fraudster finish third, sixth, and second, all in maiden special weights. The Todd Pletcher trainee might be better running shorter than one mile (her best finish came sprinting six furlongs), but a spot in the top five isn’t out of the question.

#9 Cat Island (12-1): Cat Island debuted back in April in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight on dirt at Keeneland. She finished second behind Percy’s Bar, who has since recorded top-three finishes in the Spinaway (G1), Alcibiades (G1), and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). Cat Island hasn’t run since, but trainer George Weaver wins at a 22% rate with horses returning from layoffs of 90 days or more, so don’t dismiss Cat Island in her comeback. If she handles the switch to grass, she may outrun her odds in a big way.

Good luck!
