Gulfstream Park: Horses to bet in the mandatory-payout $266,215 Pick 6 carryover

April 25th, 2026

Gulfstream Park is celebrating April’s final weekend in a big way. Saturday’s stakes-packed card includes the mandatory payout of a $266,215 carryover in the 20-cent Rainbow Pick 6.

Gulfstream Park: Race 6: $266,215 Pick 6 mandatory payout (2:37 p.m. ET)

The Pick 6 is comprised exclusively of stakes races for Florida-breds. It’s a competitive sequence stacked with talented horses, and it’s estimated the final Pick 6 pool will reach $3 million.

After analyzing the entries, we’ve identified a pair of logical favorites worth singling at short prices:

Race 9: #5 Mythical (4-5)

Race 9 is the Sophomore Fillies Sprint S. for three-year-old fillies dashing six furlongs over the main track. The nine-horse field is led by #6 Mythical (4-5), a graded stakes winner who has prevailed in six of her eight starts.

Mythical’s six wins have come by margins ranging from two lengths to 12 3/4 lengths. Five of her triumphs have come in stakes. Her biggest score came at Saratoga last summer when she wired the Adirondack (G3) by 3 1/4 lengths, but Mythical also boasts a 4-for-5 record at Gulfstream, where she won the six-furlong Any Limit S. by two lengths last month.

Mythical is 2-for-2 against Florida-breds and should be tough to beat if she brings her A game to the Sophomore Fillies Sprint.

Race 10: #8 Damon’s Mound (7-5)

Damon’s Mound has been a talented sprinter for years, and he’s the horse to beat in Race 10, the FHBPA Sprint S. for Florida-bred older horses sprinting 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt.

As a two-year-old in 2022, Damon’s Mound won the Saratoga Special (G2). As a three-year-old in 2023, he won the Gallant Bob (G2) and Robert Hilton Memorial S. Then—after missing the entirety of 2024—he returned as good as ever in 2025, nabbing the Bold Ruler (G3) and Sunshine Sprint S.

Damon’s Mound remains in hot form this year. He opened 2026 with a second straight win in the Sunshine Sprint, a six-furlong dash for Florida-breds at Gulfstream. Then—after overcoming a slow start to rally and finish second in the Gulfstream Park Sprint—he returned to the Florida-bred ranks to win the Sprint S. at Tampa Bay Downs.

Damon’s Mound is 3-for-3 competing against Florida-breds, and he brings a strong series of Brisnet Speed ratings into the FHBPA Sprint. He appears poised to snag the eighth stakes win of his accomplished career.

Good luck!
