Horse racing to bet after the 2025 Belmont Stakes

June 7th, 2025

Saturday’s horse racing action doesn’t end with the running of the 157th Belmont Stakes (G1) at approximately 7:04 p.m. ET.

To the contrary, competition continues around the country (and the world) through the evening hours and into Sunday morning. If you want to keep the winnings coming, there are plenty of tracks worthy of your attention.

Here are some suggestions for racetracks to bet after the 2025 Belmont Stakes is over (all times ET):

Charles Town

An eight-race evening card at Charles Town starts at 7:00 p.m. and runs until 10:32 p.m.

Race 3 is an interesting contest. It’s a maiden special weight for fillies and mares sprinting 4 1/2 furlongs on dirt. The experienced entrants don’t appear overly formidable, so first-time starter #8 Great Moon (4-1) warrants a win bet.

Great Moon is trained by Phillip Capuano, who wins at a 23% rate with first-time starters and a 33% rate with horses debuting in maiden special weights. A daughter of Great Notion (who sires an excellent 18% winners from first-time starters), Great Moon has shown speed in the mornings and should be sharp enough to challenge for victory.

  • Race 3: $20 to win on #8 Great Moon

Prairie Meadows

Prairie Meadows has eight races, including three stakes, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. through 10:39 p.m.

We suggest betting an exacta in Race 4, a $30,000 claimer for Iowa-bred fillies and mares who have never won two races. Morning-line favorites #3 Classic Cash (2-1) and #5 Yay Yay’s Dream (5-2) bring appealing credentials to the table. Classic Cash exits a pair of top-three finishes over this track and class level, while Yay Yay’s Dream won her debut in a $50,000 maiden claimer for Iowa-breds at Prairie Meadows last month.

Yay Yay’s Dream has run faster on the Brisnet Speed rating scale and still has upside for hot trainer Tanner Tracy, so we’ll bet her on top in the exacta and throw in a win play for good measure.

  • Race 4: $15 to win on #5 Yay Yay’s Dream
  • Race 4: $15 Exacta: 5 with 3
    Total: $30

Tokyo Racecourse (Japan)

There are plenty of international tracks to play on Saturday evening into Sunday morning. TwinSpires is carrying racing from Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Japan.

The Japanese racing is taking place at Tokyo Racecourse starting at 9:05 p.m. The feature event is Race 11, the Yasuda Kinen (G1), a prestigious turf test taking place over a metric mile.

The expected favorite for the Yasuda Kinen is #13 Soul Rush, who finished third (beaten only half a length) to Hong Kong superstar Romantic Warrior in this race last year. Soul Rush has since posted wins in Japan’s Mile Championship (G1) and the Dubai Turf (G1) in Dubai, conquering Romantic Warrior by a nose in the latter race.

Soul Rush might be seven years old, but he’s still improving and has every chance to add the Yasuda Kinen to his decorated resume. We’ll bet him to win.

  • Race 11: $25 to win on #13 Soul Rush

Good luck!
