Horses to bet in Pick 6 carryovers at Belmont, Keeneland, Santa Anita

Handicapper J. Keeler Johnson shares horses to play in a trio of five-figure Pick 6 carryovers on Saturday at Belmont Park, Keeneland, and Santa Anita.

Belmont Park: Race 6: $22,681 Pick 6 carryover (2:50 p.m. ET)

There are a couple of stakes in the sequence for the $22,681 Pick 6 carryover at Belmont Park, but bettors seeking a single to build tickets around are advised to check out #2 Irish Goodbye (3-5) in Race 7, a $35,000 maiden claimer for New York-breds racing 7 1/2 furlongs over the main track.

If you draw a line through Irish Goodbye’s recent misfire on turf, his form is solid. He hasn’t missed the trifecta in four starts against maiden special weight competition on dirt, all over distances from 6 1/2 furlongs to one mile. Along the way, he’s earned sharp Brisnet Speed ratings in the 77-84 range.

The par winning Brisnet Speed rating for Race 7’s conditions is only 77, so dropping in class might be all Irish Goodbye needs to graduate.

Keeneland: Race 5: $26,971 Pick 6 carryover (3:08 p.m. ET)

The feature event in Keeneland’s $26,971 Pick 6 carryover is Race 9, the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (G1) for three-year-old fillies racing 1 1/8 miles on turf.

We recommend Pick 6 players use two horses: #2 Luster (5-2) and #4 Faithful Departed (7-2).

Luster exits a blowout win in the Queen’s Plate S. on Tapeta, but she’s also unbeaten in two starts on turf, which includes a sharp allowance win at Keeneland during the spring.

Faithful Departed exits runner-up finishes in the Belmont Oaks (G1) and Saratoga Oaks (G2), and she possesses a strong late kick that could be enhanced by a potentially favorable pace setup in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup.

Santa Anita: Race 5: $18,458 Pick 6 carryover (6:00 p.m. ET)

If you’re looking for a horse to single in the $18,458 Pick 6 carryover at Santa Anita, check out #1 Lonesome Stew (6-5) in Race 9, the California Flag H. for California-breds dashing about 6 1/2 furlongs over the downhill turf course.

Lonesome Stew exits a stretch-running victory in a non-state-restricted $100,000 allowance optional claimer racing one mile at Del Mar, but he’s also thoroughly at home over Santa Anita’s downhill turf course. He’s 2-for-2 over this course and distance, most notably rallying to win the 2025 Sensational Star S. against fellow California-breds.

Returning to the downhill turf course for a state-restricted stakes should make Lonesome Stew tough to beat under hot jockey Umberto Rispoli.

Good luck!
