How to bet the $8,423 Sunset Pick 6 carryover

January 31st, 2026

The last day of January brings an $8,423 carryover in the $1 Sunset Pick 6, a special Pick 6 wager comprised of the final three races at both Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita.

We’ll try to win a share of the carryover on a $100 budget:

Wagers

  • $1 Pick 6: 4,6 with 8 with 5,7 with 2,3,4,8 with 5 with 1,2,6,11 ($64)
  • $1 Pick 6: 4,6 with 3 with 5,7 with 2,4,8 with 5 with 1,2,11 ($36)
    Total: $100

Leg 1: Gulfstream Park Race 10

#6 On Time Girl (9-5) is favored to win the seven-furlong Forward Gal (G3) after nabbing three of her first four starts, including the 6 1/2-furlong Fern Creek S. at Churchill Downs. But don’t overlook #4 Mythical (5-2), whose 5-for-6 career tally includes four decisive stakes wins.

Leg 2: Gulfstream Park Race 11

Although 11 horses have entered the Sweetest Chant S., #8 Sister Troienne (2-1) is a compelling favorite in the 1 1/16-mile grass contest. Her 4-for-5 record includes a perfect 3-for-3 tally on turf, highlighted by a decisive win in Gulfstream’s one-mile Ginger Brew S. The only other filly we’ll use is #3 Brat Pack (12-1), who finished fast to win a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight at Gulfstream last month.

Leg 3: Gulfstream Park Race 12

We’ll favor two promising colts stepping up in class for the 1 1/16-mile Holy Bull (G3). #5 Cannoneer (2-1) exits a powerful 7 1/4-length maiden win at Churchill Downs, while #7 Nearly (9-5) was last seen trouncing a $75,000 allowance optional claimer at Gulfstream Park. They’re the two fastest entrants from a Brisnet Speed rating perspective.

Leg 4: Santa Anita Race 7

#2 Public Assembly (5-2) and #4 Will Then (4-1) are both experienced graded stakes performers who appear well-spotted to vie for victory in the Megahertz (G3) racing one mile on turf. But don’t leave out East Coast raider #8 Sigh No More (10-1) and Las Cienegas (G3) runner-up #3 Princesa Moche (5-1).

Leg 5: Santa Anita Race 8

#5 Cornucopian (6-5) has shown flashes of serious talent for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert. He hasn’t raced since April, but he enters Saturday’s contest off a long series of fast workouts and should be tough to beat in this 6 1/2-furlong $50,000 allowance optional claimer.

Leg 6: Santa Anita Race 9

#11 Counterbalance (7-2) has shown talent in two starts over this class level on turf and may find 6 1/2 furlongs to be just right from a distance perspective. But Irish raider #1 Silkie Sevei (4-1) and the fast-working first-time starters #2 Novita Dominga (8-1) and #6 Little Opal (10-1) are also viable contenders.

Good luck!
