Keeneland: Race 6: $154,006 Pick 6 carryover (3:40 p.m. ET)
The last six races on the card comprise a $1 Pick 6 with a massive $154,006 carryover up for grabs.
Before scratches, the Pick 6 sequence features 71 horses (averaging about 11.8 per race) and 997,920 possible outcomes.
Picks and plays
One of two stakes on the card is Race 10, the $400,000 Lexington (G3) for three-year-olds. The 1 1/16-mile Road to the Kentucky Derby qualifier has drawn a competitive 11-horse field packed with pace, so we favor the chances of #10 Confessional (7-2), who has shown the ability to rate and rally.
Confessional has faced tough competition throughout his career, and he exits a third-place finish in the Virginia Derby on the Road to the Kentucky Derby. That effort yielded a 95 Brisnet Speed rating, the highest number in the Lexington field.
Pick 6 bettors may wish to use #9 Ezum (2-1), a 19 1/2-length maiden winner at Colonial Downs, as backup in case he turns out to be a star in the making. But for tournament players seeking a bolder strategy to climb the standings, we suggest two bets: a cold exacta keying Confessional on top of Ezum, and a cold daily double singling Confessional in the first leg.
The second leg of our proposed daily double is Race 11, a maiden special weight for three-year-olds racing 1 1/16 miles on turf. #4 Heeere’s Johnny (7-2) is the horse to beat, and we recommend tournament players single him in the double and then bet him to win.
Heeere’s Johnny competed well in three straight graded stakes to wrap up his 2025 campaign. He finished second in the With Anticipation (G3) and Pilgrim (G2)—beaten only a head in the latter race—and then ran fifth against a tough international field in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1).
Dropping in class for his sophomore debut should make Heeere’s Johnny tough to beat. Consider singling him to conclude the Pick 6.
Good luck!
