Racing at the Keeneland fall meet continues on Sunday with a nine-race card highlighted by a lucrative $44,319 carryover in the $1 Pick 6.
Keeneland: Race 4: $44,319 Pick 6 carryover (2:36 p.m. ET)
To win a share of the carryover, you’ll have to solve a challenging Pick 6 sequence featuring 67 horses (averaging nearly 11.2 per race) and 1,689,600 possible outcomes before scratches.
A Pick 6 with a over a million possible outcomes can be expensive to play, but we can reduce the number of possibilities to consider down to 105,600 just by singling #9 Time in Motion (5-2) in Race 9, the closing leg of the Pick 6.
Best single: Race 9: #9 Time in Motion (5-2)
At first glance, Race 9 might seem like an odd place to seek a single. It’s a maiden special weight for two-year-olds racing 1 1/16 miles on turf, and the race has drawn 16 entries, including four horses on the also-eligible list. None of the horses in the main body of the field have run more than three times, and four of them are first-time starters, so there isn’t much form to analyze.
But Time in Motion has shown promise in both of his starts, and if he brings his A game, it’s going to be tough to beat him.
Time in Motion debuted in a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight during the summer at Saratoga. After setting a slow pace, he tired in the final furlong to finish fourth, beaten only 2 3/4 lengths by next-out Summer (G1) runner-up Oscar.
For his second start, Time in Motion tackled a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight at Churchill Downs. He rated around four lengths behind a modest pace, launched a wide rally to take the lead, and then dug deep down the lane to finish second by a head. In the process, he pulled 5 1/2 lengths clear of the third-place finisher.
Time in Motion’s runner-up effort yielded a 77 Brisnet Speed rating, the highest number belonging to any of the horses entered in Race 9. Since none of the first-time starters in Sunday’s field appear especially likely to strike on debut (all are 15-1 or higher on the morning line), Time in Motion should head to the winner’s circle if he repeats his last performance.
Good luck!
