One of the best carryovers up for grabs on Sunday can be found at Oaklawn Park, where the $1 Classix Pick 6 has tossed up a non-jackpot $10,051 prize pool.

Large fields abound throughout the Classix Pick 6. The six races have drawn a combined 70 horses (averaging about 11.7 per race), so there are 2,422,420 possible outcomes before scratches.
Finding at least one reliable single will reduce costs and simplify the process of constructing competitive tickets. To that end, we recommend #8 Sexagenarian (5-2) in Race 6 as the most trustworthy single candidate in the Pick 6 sequence.
Best single: Race 6: #8 Sexagenarian (5-2)
Race 6 is a $12,500 claimer for three-year-olds and older horses who have never won two races. The six-furlong dirt dash has attracted 13 horses, including one also-eligible entrant, but Sexagenarian looks like clearly the horse to beat.
A three-year-old son of Practical Joke, Sexagenarian has run well in three starts sprinting six furlongs on dirt against his own age group this year. During the spring, he finished a pacesetting fourth in a Keeneland allowance. In summertime, he carved out the tempo in a $75,000 allowance optional claimer at Horseshoe Indianapolis before weakening to finish third. Then in the fall, he tracked the pace on his way to third place in a $40,000 claimer at Churchill Downs.
Those efforts yielded respectable Brisnet Speed ratings of 73, 82, and 77, which stack up well against Sunday’s field. Only one other entrant, the also-eligible #13 Mamoot (6-1), has earned a number higher than 82 on dirt, but his last three numbers are 66, 64, and 77. Thus, Sexagenarian is plenty fast enough to shine even while squaring off against older horses.
The drop in class from a $40,000 claimer into a $12,500 claimer should help Sexagenarian secure his second career win. Take note, trainer Mike Maker wins at a lofty 31% rate with horses dropping multiple levels down the class ladder.
In addition to singling Sexagenarian in the Pick 6, we suggest betting him to win.
