The pair of stakes races to be hosted by Colonial Downs on Saturday will commence the Pick 3 of the Week:
Race 6 Wager
- $2 Pick 3: 3,4 with 1,4,6,7 with 2,6 ($32)
Race 6 – Miss Disco S.
A cast of seven sophomore fillies that were bred in the region will go seven panels on the main oval in the first stakes of the afternoon. #3 Slewperstitus (9-5) has won or placed in every lifetime run to date and has to be on the ticket for trainer Robert Bailes. The dark bay daughter of Great Notion romped on debut on the course last season prior to missing by a neck in a subsequent stakes run locally, and she will stalk the action early with Jevian Toledo in the silks.
#4 Just Philtored (7-5) was a stakes heroine in her lone previous attempt on the strip and moves from the lawn back to the dirt for this affair. The Michael Trombetta pupil will force the action from the start under the guidance of Mychel Sanchez.
Just Philtored stays perfect in the Keswick at @colonialdowns under @SanchezMychel for trainer @trombetta_mike! 🤩

The 2YO filly paid $4.20 to win. The exacta paid $3.10.

Race 7 – Star De Naskra S.
Eight three-year-old boys bred in the region will run seven-eighths on the dirt in the middle piece of the play, including #1 Close the Gate (3-1). The twice stakes-placed gelding was a nice third in his lone run on the oval to date and is well drawn on the fence for Salzman. The bay ran into a fine winner when a clear second in an allowance tune-up for the heat and figures to receive a nice voyage in the dash beneath Joe Rocco, Jr.
#4 Sav’n Money (10-1) will add blinkers and drop into a sensible spot after facing off with a pair of strong fields in his last two outings for trainer Wayne Catalano. The Yaupon colt will come from off the pace with Loveberry in the silks. #6 Top Manipulator (7-2) was outrun in the deep Chick Lang S. last time and gets class relief for Keefe. The Blofeld gelding will always be in range with Boyce on board. Trombetta’s #7 Pont Aven (5-1) was a non-factor in the Sir Barton S. most recently, but had won two in succession prior to his stakes bow. He will thrive on the cutback in distance beneath Sanchez.
Race 8 – Maiden Claiming
Fillies and mares will run 1 1/16 miles on the lawn to conclude the card. #2 La Devita (2-1) hasn’t been great from two races on the lawn to begin her career, but the Omaha Beach filly takes a massive class drop from the special weight ranks and is an obvious inclusion in the finale. Sheldon Russell will guide the Kentucky-bred.
#6 Up On the Rock (3-1), the second Brittany Russell pupil in the field, will debut in a very winnable race for a trainer who is excellent with debut runners on all surfaces. The Cairo Prince filly has a turf-winning sibling and wouldn’t be a surprise to me with Jevian Toledo accepting the mount.
